We should all aspire to be this These are my ferrets. If I try to get them to do something, they do the opposite. Holy cow with the woman with 107 ferrets. I think I would need a cow a week to actually feed them. I was offended by Simons comment, who on earth wouldn’t want to see a bunch of ferrets war dance? Even the Queen would love it.

Msplatypus, I know what you have to deal with Ruby, our blaze beauty, is also deaf. It is next to impossible to find her! So, I gave up... I am not chasing my ferrets. They come after me. They know my steps. Ruby is reacting to vibration. When they are hungry, they come out and follow me to the cage. As I put them into their cage, I give them a treat. Also, we feed them only in cage. That approach would work only with meat-fed fuzzies. Kibble-fed ferrets need to eat several times a day

Oddly enough, I see him more when I have socks on and am not trying to rattle the floor. His sock sensor goes off and the next thing I know I’m trying to pry a ferret off my foot lol. We also feed in the cage and they are on a frankenprey diet so it sounds like we use the same tactics. We took one of the doors completely off since we never need to lock them away. We tried to remove the cage altogether at one point but they seem to be happier with it up. I guess it’s just their little haven.

I was thinking about removing a cage also, but decided to keep it. It was their home for 3 years. They got used to it. It would be such a drastic change for my fuzzies. Besides that, I do not know where to hang a hammock, if not in the cage.

I tried hanging a hammock underneath a chair once, attaching each corner to a chair leg. Maisie completely ignored it. Probably a good thing, since encouraging her to hang around chair legs is probably a bad idea. You never know when you might need a cage, for example cage rest for a ferret who has had surgery, or quarantine, or in case you need to let workers in the house. But I think you are both right, their cage is their castle msplatypus , thank you for saving poor little Obi, and welcome to the forum!
