Hey everyone, I have been lurking this forum for quite some time so let me introduce myself to you all and my babies!
My name is Heather, active duty coast guard and a newish ferrant. I adopted my first boy Kirin (cream) back in August of 2016. Shortly after in Feb we felt we were ready for a 2nd and adopted Cecil who is a Silver Mit. Boy were they night and day. Kirin was passive sweet and gentle understood the word no and genuinely just a amazing first time ferret. Cecil was your typical brat kit. They grew and bonded tremendously. They share a home with 2 dogs a pom-chi named Sage and Dachshund named Bailey. Along with 3 cats, Sera, Remy and Zuki. My boys became freeroam ferrets designated to the downstairs. Of course only in their cage when at work or asleep or unsupervised. Sadly this past December Kirin slipped outside one evening when taking the trash out. By the time we realized he was missing 10 minutes passed and we searched tirelessly on end for him using every technique to find him. I live in Juneau Alaska and it was looking grim with the cold weather and rain. Unfortunately got the news from a gentlemen who accidently struck him with his car. He was kind enough to bring him back home and it provided closure. Cecil naturally took the loss hard within hours of him missing. I made the hard choice to adopt immediately with the chance of possibly finding Kirin. All I knew what I couldn't let Cecil grieve alone. In comes Bu. We don't have a choice of private breeders so I went to the local Petco and picked out the discount baby no one wanted. Bu was 7 months at the time and clocking in a a heft 5.5lbs! Bu is a chocolate (I believe) And smart as a cookie dumb as a door nob. Instantly took to litter training never has accidents but boy hes not the brightest. Bu I love the little blob of a noodle. Well this helped Cecil. They instantly got along and I'm happy to say fully bonded 3 months later.
Lastly incomes Freya. I have this soft spot for the unwanted babies. Freya was the last tiny little girl left over. She a albino and my heart instantly ached for her to not be alone. So I brought her home. She small weighing barely 1.5 lbs. Boy is she the boss of the house though. EVERYONE bows down to her. Freya rules the roost but sure loves her boys. She's the shared girlfriend. hahaha . But this is my crazy crew of misfits (pictures linked below)
First 3 pictures is of Kirin DIP as he is the start to this never ending journey with ferrets. As you can tell he was a pretty big boy from the start
