You can try giving him small amounts of bone but if you're wanting to try him with a mouse, you may have to tease him with it first so he bites it, it'll give him a taste of what it is. Not all ferrets will take to whole prey straight away so need a little encouraging

Whole prey can be tricky. Some ferrets take to it right away, others don't. Binx needed to have his chopped up for awhile, but Weasel was taking whole prey like a little savage from day one.

Yes my guy took right to a pinkie and ate it in like 2 bites! I got some fizzies too so I'm 3 excited to see how that all goes. I was told to do 3 pinkies a day for my kit so now does that mean I stop giving the chicken or do I do both?

libertymjs Please be aware that baby animals like pinkies do not count for any meals. They are considered only a snack since they aren't nutritionally fully developed yet. Only adult animals are considered for actual meals.

Oh this is very good to know I was confused on why I would be feeding such a small meal but I think the girl was trying to explain buy just one of those to see if he will eat it. Do fizzies count or are those snacks too?

To my knowledge fuzzies aren't adult either, so no, those are still snacks. All baby/non-adult animals are just snacks or treats. They can be great as a starter to introduce, and then move on to bigger though, so that's likely what they meant.

And even once your boy is eating mice he still needs other proteins. So chicken, turkey, beef, rats, etc will still be a part.

For me personally, mice are more a once a week thing. I do feed them often because whole prey is good for them, and my gang loves them, but I don't feed those alone. so what the others are saying is definitely true. If you want to feed more whole type proteins, chicken and quail would likely work well if you could get a hold of them.

I fed him a wing today and he went nuts! And loved It! Thanks for clarifying!

If he ate the entire wing then give him more He's a growing boy and babies can often eat their body weight in a day!

Haha yep. I feed every part of the chicken. Legs normally go to the dog but otherwise a mix of guts, bone, meat, etc can go to either~

Just curious as I have been buying separate parts of the chicken thinking I needed to aim for the dark meat most often.

Hi you can use either I normally simply cut a whole chicken into portions ( cut legs into two Pieces so he is getting a chunky thigh ) kits are simply garbage bins on legs lol give what ever they will eat they will soon tell you when they are getting enough (if they leave anything from a previous meal then you can work out there portion sizes good luck Bev

So I've really been able to get a lot of different proteins right from the farm. My parents are going to start raising chickens, and I've been promised all heads, guts, gizzards, and other bits people don't eat
