I run out of veal this Friday and started marinating chicken or turkey in pork juice. I defrost a whole chicken drumstick with a piece of pork in same ziplock bag, then I cube pork only and put it on a top of that whole chicken drumstick. Then I pour all that juice from a ziploc bag into their food bawl. It is 50% pork and 50% chicken (or turkey) Choco prefers pork or veal. Milky and Ruby go for chicken. Ruby is not losing weight.
This morning my fuzz butts had liver/pork mix. As always, I sliced only pork. Yesterday they had chicken gizzards with pork cubes on top. Tonight they are getting kidney/chicken soup. I bought rabbit chunks recently, but did not feed it to my ferrets yet. I was thinking that it would be better not to do pork, veal, and rabbit at the same time.
Here is our menu for next week:
Monday AM - eggs Monday PM - chicken rib cage with pork cubes
Tuesday AM - chicken breast with pork cubes Tuesday PM - chicken leg with pork cubes
Wed AM - turkey neck with pork Wed PM - turkey gizzards with pork cubes
Thur AM - ½ heart + ¼ liver + ¼ kidney Thur PM - chicken wings with pork cubes
Friday AM - chicken paws with pork cubes Friday PM - chicken hearts with pork cubes
Sat AM - turkey wings with pork cubes Sat PM - chicken/pork soup (50%X50%)
Sun AM - chicken/kidney soup Sun PM - just pork cubes (hopefully they would eat:))

That is starting to look good What we need to tweak is to add a couple more bone in meals, since the turkey wings will be too dense to consume. For Sunday instead of chicken/kidney soup, make it liver/kidney since you still need another full meal of just liver/kidney. If you like, you can give egg as a treat instead of a meal, or even mix it into one of the organ soups. That way a bone in meal can be put there. Something like quail or rabbit would be good. You and they have come SO far since the beginning

What we need to tweak is to add a couple more bone in meals, since the turkey wings will be too dense to consume. I put 1 tsp of bone meal in their soup. My fuzz butts are OK. Only Choco is eating pork so far. Milky and Ruby dig out chunks of chicken and drug it out of a bawl:) No major changes, but they are not loosing weight and play a lot. I am planning to feed them pork/chicken soup for a couple of days. Is it a good idea? Right now Choco eats all the pork, Milky and Ruby eat all the chicken or turkey.

Let's get entirely away from soup. That has them backslide too much. They need to be eating whole pieces and bone in chunks.

This is much easier for me:) I am soooo tiered of making soups! But how should I make Ruby eating pork? Is there any tricks besides starving her?

Just leave it with her. She knows by now it is food. Mine know they will no longer be spoiled. If I give a protein for breakfast and it isn't gone or close to it, that is exactly what they get for the next meal And I mean the meat they have in the cage, not fresh stuff

Done that:) I leave whatever they did not like for one more meal. Ruby would not eat eggs either from a bawl, or from a spoon. But she would leak eggs off my finger. Of course she cannot get enough. I put her back in cage, and she starts digging in litter box like crazy. I cannot stand it..and I mix FDR (chicken) with eggs. That she would eat. Is it a good approach? Should I starve my precious girl until she eats an egg "as is"?

If you need to mix her egg with something that's fine I actually feed commercial grinds in the morning, and that's how they get their eggs. Mixed in.

Hi Sherry! Everything is OK. I feed my fuzz butts well (stick to that menu from last week) I did not introduce rabbit meat yet. Still working on pork acceptance. Ruby still does not eat pork! I used to mix pork cubes with chicken. Ruby and Milky would pick up chicken. A couple of days ago I started making pork soup. I put lots of it on top of every food I serve: gizzards, hearts, turkey, chicken...Choco and Milky lick off that soup, but Ruby would wait until they eat all of it. Then she would go for "base food". I have been pushing pork on her for one month at least. May be longer then that. Don't know what to do. May be replace pork with rabbit?

I'd forget the pork with her then, the stubborn minx Start with rabbit and see how that goes. Have you increased their bone in meals? As well as the liver/kidney?

They are eating liver all right. In fact, they like it. As for kidneys, I feed it twice a week: in the morning 50%X50% mix with liver, and then I add hearts to PM meal. Also I add bone meal to their soup. I think my fuzz butts are getting enough of bones. I was feeding them turkey necks and cornish hen recently.

Okay, just to clarify- they are getting about the equivalent of 1.5 meals a week of liver/kidney? I am assuming if I am reading correctly, breakfast will be half liver, half kidney. Evening meal will be half heart, 1/4 liver, 1/4 kidney. If you are feeding that all on one day, it may be an idea to split it up through the week just to help with nutrient spread. You'll notice in this menu, the heart and organ meals are spread out across the week:
Monday am: edible bone in meat Monday pm: edible bone in meat (or muscle)
Tuesday am: edible bone in meat Tuesday pm: muscle meat
Wednesday am: edible bone in meat Wednesday pm: heart
Thursday am: edible bone in meat Thursday pm: edible bone in meat (or muscle)
Friday am: edible bone in meat Friday pm: ½ heart + ¼ liver + ¼ other organ
Saturday am: edible bone in meat Saturday pm: muscle meat
Sunday am: edible bone in meat Sunday pm: ½ liver + ½ other organ

Huray! My fuzz butts eat a rabbit. Even Ruby does! I bought a whole skinned rabbit cut in cubes 2X2 inch. When I defrost it, those cubes split into ribs, legs, organs, etc. Hare-today cuts off heads and sell them separately. A big question: how should I alter my ferrets diet now? On one hand that rabbit has everything they need. On the other hand each ferret could pick out one favorite part. So, I would not know who ate what.
