Ruby is OK this morning: alert and active. I did not see her eating, though. I was driving my kid to school when my ferrets woke up. Now she is playing with the boys. I gave her a treat (FDR chicken) to see if her appetite is back. She ate it. Should I stop introducing new proteins for a couple of days?

She has had her weekly allotment of oil with this then. And no, I'd keep pushing her for the new proteins. Just mix in with the rest as you've been doing, or do as a soup form. If you don't keep pushing her, she'll learn she can hold out.

Something else that may help is to let the two sit mixed well together at room temp for at least an hour.

I was "marinading" meets together in a fridge. Will do it your way today. Yesterday my fuzz butts had beef/chicken soup for dinner and for breakfast. The boys ate it from a spoon, but Ruby did not. I had to add fish oil again. I remember what you said - no more fish oil for Ruby. But it was the only way to make her eating. So, she ate 5 tsp and run away. I left a bawl with soup in their cage overnight. It was empty in the morning. I do not know who ate it.

If she actually ate 5 teaspoons, then she has eaten as much as most of my females for a meal Some of my females have only eaten an ounce a day in the summer. 5 tsp is almost an ounce.

Thank you ,Sherry! It's good to know. I worried about her. My fuzz buts were giving me hard time yesterday. I marinaded chicken with beef juice, and they refused to eat it! Even the boys! So, I made a soup from that marinaded meat (no fish oil this time). The boys ate it from a spoon, but Ruby had just 2 tsp in the morning and 2 tsp at night. Well, may be she ate while I was not looking. I left a full bawl of soup in the cage, and it was empty this morning.
For breakfast today they got chicken soup with one small piece of veal (like 5%-10%) They boys ate it from a bawl, but I had to spoon-feed Ruby again. She had only 2 tbs this morning. I woke her up this afternoon and she ate another 2 tsp again. We are moving in a right direction:)
Do you want me keep working on veal? Or start introducing another protein?

I would say to continue what you are doing and work to get the boys and Ruby eating from the bowl. Also, many ferrets prefer to eat from a saucer or bowl with low sides. They don't like sticking their faces down into a bowl. 😊

We have 2 bawls and 2 saucers. They are fine with each one. If they like the food:)

I'd get her accepting the veal, and for the boys you can work on new proteins Worse comes to worse, she will steal new proteins from them

Hi Sherry!
Glad that you are back:) The boys do not like beef either. They eat twice less. Yesterday and this morning I fed chicken/beef soup to my fuzz butts (5 oz of chicken, 1 oz of beef, 1 tsp fish oil) The boys ate about 1-2 oz each. I had to spoon feed Ruby. She had 3 tsp for dinner and 2 tsp for breakfast. As always, I left a bawl of soup in the cage. They ate another couple of oz during the night. Probably, that was the boys.

Everything is well. My fuzz butts eat/sleep/play/poop as usual. The boys are eating soup (20% beef, 80% chicken, no fish oil) from a bawl; I spoon feed Ruby. She ate 5 tsp for dinner, and she put weight on. She used to be 650-670 g a couple of weeks ago. Now she is 708 g.

Okay. Cut the oil entirely now. Get them used to that for a couple of meals, and then we will start changing the ratio of beef to chicken.

Will do. Actually, I cut the oil already. This morning I did not feel well. I was not able to prepare the soup. So I gave them chicken soaked in kidneys&beef juice. Is it OK?
