Ahi Tuna was listed for last week's feeding menu and will not be given again for another week or two. Eggs are automatically mixed with organ meals without being listed because I have been feeding their weekly eggs. Until such a time when I know they are starting to shed which is not happening at the moment, they will be increased to 2 eggs per ferret totaling at 10 eggs a week between 5 ferrets.
4 types of main protein bone in meats (rabbit, quail, squab, chicken/ Cornish game hen) are on their diet while depending on the week and what I find, 4-5 muscle meats (Beef, pork, fish, bison, ground turkey) are given, with 1 or 2 being ground bison or turkey (which i haven't listed until i did get it but it is planned for upcoming meals). Organs are mixed between beef, chicken and pork unless otherwise noted.

I am still in the process of introducing fuzzies into their diets as treats and until such a time where i can get a small freezer, i am working them towards frozen whole prey as substitutes)

Great, thanks for the complete list of proteins! Awesome that they are getting such a variety. What is your game plan for introducing the fuzzies?

They eat pinkys. I'll wait 4-6 hours from their last meal to make sure they won't stash and let them out to play for an hour to get their appetites going more then place them back in the cage with fuzzies on their food bowls

I find that they'll take quickly to their food bowl when they've been playing

Lol. Just patiently waiting. Like I'm patiently waiting for Dagger to switch over to full raw. He's picky about the meats since he's still not used to them so need to do what I did with the busyness when I first switched them over. 1 week down, 2 more weeks of soupie to go haha.

Here is what I need in one inclusive post from you to send off to heather and get you graduated, A menu for a week, if that menu does not include EVERY protein they eat then please include a list of what else they get rotated in. And here is you final exam, 1.) Does freezing degrade taurine content? 2.) How many eggs per ferret a week should be given? 3.) if you run our of heart what can be substituted until you get more? 4.) What bones are considered edible for a ferret? 5.) Are chicken and cornish game hen different or the same? 6.) Can you feed chicks as a meal?

Day 1 AM - Bone In - CGH - 9 ounces PM - Muscle - Chicken Thigh - 9 ounces Day 2 AM - Bone In - Chicken Wing - 9 ounces PM - Muscle - CGH - 9 ounces Day 3 AM - Bone In - Quail - 9 ounces PM - Heart - Beef - 12.6 ounces Day 4 AM - Bone In - Squab - 9 ounces PM - Muscle - Pork - 9 ounces Day 5 AM - Bone In - Rabbit - 9 ounces PM - 50% Heart / 25% Liver / 25% Organ - Beef Heart / Pork Liver / Pork Kidney 12.6 ounces Day 6 AM - Bone In - Chicken Neck - 9 ounces PM - Muscle - Beef - 9 ounces Day 7 AM - Bone In - Chicken Feet - 9 ounces PM - 50% Liver / 50% Organ - C Liver / T Fries 12.6 ounces Bone In: Duck - prepared in freezer and needs to be introduced Muscle Meat Substitutes: Ground Bison, Ground Turkey Novel Proteins (bi-weekly) - ahi, cod, swordfish (in the freezer) Treats: Pinkys, Fuzzies. (Heather knows my plan to integrate whole prey to my menu down the line) 1. Freezing does not degrade taurine 2. 1 Chicken egg per ferret per week. 2 eggs per ferret during shedding. 5 quail eggs equal about 1 Chicken egg. Needs to be scrambled. Okay to feed as Is or mixed into or with organs meals to entice them to eat for most. Not my 4 in ordinal busyness as they were introduced to most organs in my menu during soupie phase when found they do not have sensitivities to said proteins. 3. Tongue can be substituted. If really in a pinch I've heard of others using taurine powder but I have sources for chicken, beef and pork hearts so no need to. 4. Soft bones such as chicken/CGH, quail, pheasant, rabbit, guinea pigs, adult rats/ mice. Turkey is possible with tree help of breaking the bones. Mentioned in the Frankenprey that pork rib picnic "bones" is okay since its not true bone. 5. Cornish game hen is a breed of chicken. But also I found a source for Chinese black chicken so that's one novel chicken protein to introduce. 6. Chicks are used as a treat and not a meal due to no nutritional value do to the young age.

Great, I will submit the menu to Heather for review and approval, she has a full plate so do not worry if it takes a few days before hearing anything.

Congratulations You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone. You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days Sherry will lock down this thread and place it in the archives but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you a few.. Good luck ciao

Thank you everyone that has helped tremendously throughout this journey! It's always a learning experience with these little buggers! If it was not for a chance encounter those months ago with a passenger that had a ferret as ECA, my passion for these guys would never have been rekindled. I know the seed was planted in me all those years ago when i first watched the original Beastmaster movie!
