The title is a joke, I made it to my roommate who owns the second ferret, Orion, in our household.
My little girl, Arioch, loves hanging bed. We are talking cubes, hanging tunnels, hammocks and most recently a pirate ship. Orion prefers snuggly blankets and even the igloo. In fact, Orion love for snuggly blankets and the igloo has erupted into him not wanting Arioch to enjoy her hanging beds. It started with the hanging tunnel, Orion would kick Arioch out of it to make her go down to the igloo or the blankets. Once they were comfy if she tried to leave he would hold her down forcing her to stay and cuddle with him. She waits for him now to fall into a deep sleep before she books it into one of her hanging beds. I had I soon noticed teeth marks in the tunnel and we only had it for a couple of days, less than three, I caught him chewing on it from the inside. We took it out which left Arioch no choice to sleep in the not so preferred sleeping area.
On Friday we received a pirate ship bed as a gift from a friend and my roommate quickly installed it and sent me photos of Arioch wasting no time climbing into it. She loves this thing! She plays in it and has even made it her storage space for her stuff, she dragged a couple of wash clothes we had in there and a toy. Well fast forward to Saturday... I hadn't been home because my brother who was visiting from deployment only had a few days to be around. I go to look at the cool, adorable pirate ship, and then I see it... chew marks on the support bands. I knew in my heart who it was and even caught him doing it when we walked away to get supplies from my crafting closest to fix it. I informed my roommate and she said it wasn't like that earlier. It wasn't just on one support band, it was on two, I can repair the no problem so I did and reinstalled the bed.
Now we come to today, Monday... I come home from work, do my routine and then go to let the babies out so they can play. I noticed the ship wasn't on straight, Orion had chewed through the newly repaired strap. I took it down and allowed everyone to play, Arioch went back into the cage to lay down and starts looking for her pirate ship. I watched her look for it, push on Orion, bite on him like she was mad (got onto her), go back to looking for it. Then finally the famous Arioch fit happens, she does this when she doesn't get her way, she grabs at the cage bars and pulls on them and nothing can stop her but getting her way (we try to ignore the behaviour but she gets more violent if we do we try and distract her from whatever she's wanting if that's even what these fits are).
My roommate, Lianna, says she doesn't know what to do because she can't stop a stubborn ferret but I believe that we just need some help. The fuzzies right now get roughly between 4 to 6 hours of play depending on our schedule but I try and incorporate enough time before work so they get 2 hours before I have to leave. Orion is our lazy, gluttonous, little boy who just tends to sleep and eat. (he slept for 2 hours yesterday while the cage door was opened, that's one of the photos). He doesn't like to explore and when he does come out of the cage he goes into the play tent and starts playing with the toys in there and passes out after about an hour. Arioch is my explorer and troublemaker, I constantly have to watch her in order to make her she's not getting into anything. When she sees me come out in the morning she's up, showing me that's she's using the litter box and then comes out to play with me. They are caged when we aren't home. So I don't know if he's just not getting enough play time, if he needs more stimulation, or even how to fix this habit of his. Is Arioch doomed to not have her hanging beds anymore?
