I’ve seen this word being thrown around the forums and a few Facebook groups but what does it mean?
My only guess is a packet or tub containing a minced product of different parts of one animal, (or as I call it mixed whole animal)

In my case I use ‘commercial raw’ to indicate it’s raw meat bought from a company specialising in raw animal foods. I also raise some animals for food myself (‘home-grown’) and I buy some meat from a local butcher (‘butcher’s meat’) as well as catching some wild rabbits (generally called ‘game’; pheasants, pigeons, venison, wild ducks, wild boar, hare, partridge and so on also come under ‘game’, though with the rise of farmed game you’ll sometimes see ‘wild game’ to differentiate wild-caught animals from farm-reared ones of the same species.) Rabbits could also be ‘vermin’ though that would include mice and rats - I don’t feed trapped wild rats to my ferrets in case of rat poison, though I do toss wild mice caught in our snap-traps to the ferrets. Mice don’t have such a big range and are much less likely to pick up poison bait..... particularly the ones living in my rabbit shed from time to time, who get a high-quality organic diet of rabbit and quail food!

Commercial raw are frozen raw grinds meant specifically for cats and dogs. The best ones are whole animal grinds. In those, the entire animal sans head, skin, digestive tract are thrown into an industrial grinder and made into various forms from bulk chubbs to 8oz patties, to 1 or 2oz medallions.

runningdog SherryBoth of what you’re saying makes sense. it’s basically raw meat sold by companies that specialise in it, and mainly aim it at animals?
