I think my boy may have a cold but the only symptom seems to be a cough. He eats, poops, plays and sleeps like normal; he doesn't have a runny nose or any eye boogies, but when he runs or is eating he gets a little bit of a cough or kind of raspy breathing. I thought it may be a hairball so I gave him some stuff to pass it but he still has a cough. His brother and sister both are fine and I can't figure out what may be causing it.
I may be overreacting, I have only noticed this for a little over 24 hours and it's not very often, but I'm not able to get him to a vet until the weekend so I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what I could do to help him feel better.
We both thank you!!

When ferrets contract a respiratory virus they get the same symptoms we do. Runny eyes and nose, sneezing, congestion etc. While I don't want to unecessarily alarm you- coughing during exertion can be caused by heart issues. An xray will be necessary to know for sure as most cardiomyopathies in ferrets cannot be diagnosed without.
