I have been struggling with my new ferret trying to transition him to raw . He has been on soupie and does not like hitting those slivers. If they r a bit too big to his liking, he takes off running and spits them out. Today is his day out for free roam, and I heard him crunching on something. Thinking it was plastic---I went over to the couch and lo and behold there was a stash of boney stuff behind it, and he was munching on a piece. Yea! " You are getting bone-in pieces from now on" (hoping anyway).
My Phoebe was like that too while on soupie---just all of a sudden found some jerky and started crunching away. I guess some like dried meat.

Ahahaha! Good boy.. now let's hope that he's gonna take straight to some bone-in pieces! My snooters like munching on dried raw chicken/duck feet as chews occasionally, I keep a close eye on poops when they do this because they're so bony. But I have one who will eat the dried raw chicken feet but he doesn't want fresh raw chicken feet. x.X

Shucks! My fella will not eat fresh meat either---has to be dried out. It was too good to be true.

Ai.. stubborn little snooter! Does he eat the soupie without slivers in? Perhaps a ground meat and worked up to slivers if he accepts that?

He will eat the soupie with tiny slivers, but when I increase the size--like I will sneak a few larger ones in--- he runs off and drops them on the floor.
I guess he is going to hold me to those tiny chips for a while.

Hmm, so when you have soupie with slightly bigger slivers, he eats the soupie but spits out the slivers? Does he do that with the big and the smaller slivers or only the big? If only the big ones.. I'd see if maybe he'd be okay to eat a bowl of all slivers at the small size and sneak in some slightly bigger ones into that if he is willing to eat a bowl of only slivers. I managed to trick one of mine like that before, poor sod I'm sure thought they'd all be the same size since it sure looked like it at first glance, haha.

He will eat soupie with tiny slivers but once they get a little bigger than what he likes, he carries them off and drops them. Yes, I will do just tiny slivers without soupie and see how it goes.
I assumed since he ate dried out rat leg and other dried out rat pieces, he would eat fresh bone in pieces---but no. No skipping.
