Different cuts of chicken- Thighs, backs, wings, I really just rotate through the whole animal. Thighs are great because they are dark meat, backs have a high bone content so they need paired with extra meat but they are amazing for really working on bones, wings are the same.

Quiz time! Are you ready? (Good luck!) What are some good emergency taurine sources if you run out of heart? How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? List 3 sources of edible bone. Why are cooked bones dangerous and raw bones safe? What counts as a "different protein source?" Organs should consist of approximately how much liver, and how much "other" organ? Is it a good idea to mix muscle meat, bone in and organs all in one meal. Explain why. How can you tell if your ferret is too skinny? BONUS- About how long is a ferret's digestion time? What is a healthy diet item that can be used for hairballs, and his often should you give it? I bet you are going to do fabulous

What are some good emergency taurine sources if you run out of heart? Cow Tongue and human taurine supplement.
How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? If their poop becomes chalky you're giving too much, if you're giving too little, they become runny, and soft.
List 3 sources of edible bone.
Chicken wings, turkey neck (with extra meat), and frog legs
Why are cooked bones dangerous and raw bones safe?
Cooked bones are more fragile, and will splinter in the digestive tract and potentially puncture something. Raw bones are more structurally sound, and the pieces the ferrets are breaking off and eating, will not splinter into such tiny, and sharp pieces.
What counts as a "different protein source?"
A totally different animal.
Organs should consist of approximately how much liver, and how much "other" organ?
Organs should be 10% of the diet. Half of this should be liver. Heart is not considered an "other organ", and is in it's own category.
Is it a good idea to mix muscle meat, bone in and organs all in one meal. Explain why.
No, ferrets will pick around and only eat their favorites. How can you tell if your ferret is too skinny?
I honestly don't know here, since mine are big fat butterballs (I need to weigh them, but pretty sure Paint is pushing 4 lbs), but using dog logic, if I can feel ribs without a layer of fat between the skin and ribs.
BONUS- About how long is a ferret's digestion time?
3-4 hours.
What is a healthy diet item that can be used for hairballs, and his often should you give it?
Raw eggs (whisked), and they should be given once a week on a regular basis, and twice a week during heavy shedding seasons.
Now questions of my own! Little turds have suddenly decided turkey neck bone isn't edible. Should I smash it next time? I'm wondering if it's just a tad too big for them. They've eaten it just fine before though.

Eh, I wouldn't say fragile, they turn rock hard and splinter. Because they are rock hard, they cannot be digested. What counts as a "different protein source?" A totally different animal. Great job!Organs should consist of approximately how much liver, and how much "other" organ? Organs should be 10% of the diet. Half of this should be liver. I honestly don't know here, since mine are big fat butterballs (I need to weigh them, but pretty sure Paint is pushing 4 lbs), but using dog logic, if I can feel ribs without a layer of fat between the skin and ribs. So, if you hold your ferret so their back legs dangle, if they are healthy they should be an up and down tube sock shape. If they are too skinny, they will be hour glass shaped, too fat, they will be round. Kits are always fat, at least until they hit a year old. Then the weight FALLS off of them and you think they are sick and dying.BONUS- About how long is a ferret's digestion time? 3-4 hours. This worked best for my crew<3 Also, I know this is a bit annoying, but would you mind reposting your weekly menu with the alterations you made to it so I can present it to the almighty menu approver?

Yay! Thank you! I'll try the medallions on their next turkey meal.
Sunday AM: Chicken Wings (Bone-In) Sunday PM: 1/2 Liver & 1/2 Other Organ (Kidney, Spleen or Pancreas) Monday AM: Pork tail & Pork (Bone-In) Monday PM: Frog Legs or Fish (Bone-In or Muscle) Tuesday AM: Turkey Neck + Turkey(Bone-In) Tuesday PM: Lamb (Muscle) Wednesday AM: Chicken Wings (Bone-In) Wednesday PM: Hearts Thursday AM: Pork tail & Pork (Bone-In) Thursday PM: Frog Legs or Lamb (Bone-In or Muscle) Friday AM: Turkey Neck + Turkey (Bone-In) Friday PM: 1/2 heart, 1/4 liver, 1/4 Other organ (Pancreas, Spleen, or Kidney) Saturday AM: Chicken Wings (Bone-In) Saturday PM: Beef (Muscle)
They also get 1 egg added to a meal a week. So far, they will not eat salmon oil.
They're black holes at the moment so they're eating 12 - 14oz a day between them (I have checked for stashing, no stashing is happening). Hoping they slow down soon!
