I will never think of chicken noodle soup the same way again....
Missy- She still needs a dab on the nose and a lead in with the spoon to start eating. They both drive me crazy sometimes. They will smell their food and stare at us but have only started eating by themselves a few times. Idk, maybe Iâm just obsessing over them. Should we just leave them to see if they eat by themselves? Or is it more important to make sure they eat?
Flint- Hmmmm, now you have me thinking and googling. He is eating at least as much, if not more than Missy but he is just not gaining weight. He still feels boney, even the vet commented on it when we saw him the other week. And looking at pics from last year at this time he was much chubbier and fluffier, and he tends to smell like sweaty man junk, and he does tend to be a bit âoverly aggressiveâ especially with Missy, and he does have insane amounts of energy, and his shoulder blades and tail seem to be the thinnest and shortest of his hair, and the hair on his tummy isnât growing back very well or very fast, and the skin at the end of his tail is always dark, I just canât tell if itâs just dirty or if it is black heads!! and his whole urinating thing.... So! Opinion time? Is it better to be safe than sorry and start treating him for adrenal? I canât bring myself to mention it to my husband yet, he worries (more than me!) especially about flint. And itâs not the best time financially for more vet bills (still totally do-able just not a preferred time for a preventative measure) I can post some pics too if that helps? Silly goofball ferret, why must you be so cute and loveable but sickly!

Hmmm. Let's try taking away all of their noms for 2-3 hours tomorrow. Make them hungry, then place the soup in front of their hungry little faces The end of the tail is rat tail. Base of the tail is adrenal, as is shoulder blades. Ferrets generally don't regrow hair very quickly, it usually takes next shed for it to come back. The best way to tell would be either a few monthly shots of Lupron or just DES implant. I won't lie, I understand. I'm going to be sad when mine get it, but it's an easy thing to treat and keep them happyâ¤

Noms lol. So we ended up getting ANOTHER food dish (this is the third one we have tried) and it has seemed to make a difference! Flint has actually been nom-ing on his own for the last 2 days! The only time he seems to want help is if we have just taken their food out of the fridge and itâs too cold or if we have just added new soup to the dish. And even then we just have to put some on our finger and show him (not smear it on his nose or scruff him!) and he will just start, all by himself đ Here is a pic of their new âfeeding troughâ and Missy pigging out. Little Missy was giving me the âIâm hungry, spoon feed me plzâ last night. She hadnât eaten anything in 4-5 hours so I tried scruffing her and lowering her nose to the food and she started eating! Ha! I win! Iâm going to talk to dan about possibly getting Flint treated for adrenal, even if he doesnât have it yet. Would it help to prevent/ delay it if he doesnât?

Lmao, feeding trough. Should get one for Cow. Bahahahahahahaha Once we get Missy happy and consistent for a couple of days we can start with some heart slivers. These heart slivers should be cut about the width of the tip of a fork prong and 1/4 inch long. Long and skinny. You are welcome to cut these up whenever you have time, I just want to wait for a few days to add some in. If Flint doesn't have adrenal it should help slow the progression of him getting it. He is neutered so it's really a matter of when vs if. Implanting if he doesn't have it yet won't do any harm though

COW? FEEDING TROUGH?! ROFLMAO! *composes self
So it seems that Flint is the one who has caught on! He is totally eating all by himself, no help required!!!! Missy is still on the fence. I canât tell if she is just not hungry or if she is being stubborn. She will go 4+ hours without eating and when i help her with the spoon she will take a few licks and then leave. But other times she will stay and eat the whole plate. I still think it would be a good idea to start adding slivers soon though. Flint doesnât seem to mind the little chunks anymore!
I talked to Dan about Flint and we are going to take him in after Christmas. We figure that Flint and Dan should be 100%

I ended up retarded seal laughing and my husband looked at me like I was crazy lmaooooooo
Missy probably is more the type that isn't very food motivated, which happens and is easy to work around. Praise is key here. Seriously gush at her if she even licks the spoon. You are probably going to get tired of hearing yourself. If you can manage in a tone like when you coo at babies the better. The different tone will help 'cue' her.
I'm excited to see how they take to slivers!
Awesome, sounds like a plan<3

1. Name: Flint 2. Weight: 1132g (Good boy!) 3. Ferret has eaten âlotsâ per day (Hard to tell now but between the 2 of them they eat about 12oz a day) 4. Stools: Looking MUCH better, we are through the detox stage I think and his urinating seems good too! 5. Activity levels: Less active than last week but still a goofball. Maybe heâs starting to take the hint that itâs winter now! 6. Weekly menu: Chicken soup with bone meal and Iâve added about 250mg of taurine powder 7. Picture:

1. Name: Missy 2. Weight: 960g 3. Ferret has eaten âless than last weekâ Between the 2 of them they are getting about 12oz per day but Missy still needs to be reminded to eat and sometimes she just wonât 4. Stools: definitely better, still a bit loose but we had an accident with too much fish oil one day that affected things 5. Activity levels: Sleeps more during the day but still has lots of energy when sheâs awake 6. Weekly menu: Chicken soup with bone meal and about 250g of taurine a day 7. Picture

Omg, I laughed so hard... then I told dan and I laughed again đ Iâm a sucker for puns! As for the taurine, we didnât have quite enough hearts for last weeks batch of soup but we hav more now... a lot more. Can I add extra heart to their soup? I know that too much liver is bad but we have 10lbs of chicken hearts in our freezer now... I think we are going to wait until the weekend to start the slivers. I seem to be missing meal time a lot lately because of pesky work and sleep and I really want to be around for the start. And what do I make the slivers with? Is heart ok? As for ferrets: Flint is being a total piggy! I love it! And missy seems to go through phases. One day sheâs not so interested in food and the next she is scarfing down the whole bowl. Is that normal? And because the husband is home he always feels the need to make them eat if they havenât. I feel like we should just leave it up to them but how long should we wait to see if they eat? As is, dan makes them eat by 10am and 11pm. Flint will have snacks on his own in between but Missy doesnât. As is if they eat off of your finger or a spoon without a fuss itâs easy to get them eating out of their bowl. Sigh, so close!

Yes, heart slivers are fine. Taurine, is water soluble, so any excess gets peed out. You may have to add some extra bonemeal/eggshell because their poops might get more loose than normal. Dark, loose poops are completely normal when it comes to heart/organ meals. I would try a ratio of 1:4 slivers to soup and see how it goes.

Ugh, so missy did not do so well. She wasnât into eating this morning so we left their food out for a while when we went out. Nobody touched it. Then we tried in the afternoon, she wasnât feeling it either but we did have people over so she was busy checking them out. When they left we tried again. Flint happily chomped down but Missy was still fighting. I tried just the soup with no slivers and she still wouldnât eat! She is sleeping now but we are going to have to force some food into her before we go to bed đŁ

Yay!! Missy is chowing down this morning, slivers and all! We got her to eat a bit of just soup before we went to bed and someone ate some sliver soup in the night. The only foreseeable problem is she will sometimes run away with a sliver to eat it. I donât want to start finding meat chunks in their stash spots đ¤˘

With Missy- try a feeding den. Cardboard boxes work fabulous for this. Every time she tries to scurry off redirect her to the box. I am just so proud of you and these two babies! They are doing SO well! Also- so, just so you aren't worried and confused, I'm having a bit of a rough time and need some self TLC so I'm going to be taking a week mini vacation and won't be on the forum. This doesn't mean you will be without a Mentor- Sherry will actually be stepping in while I'm away⤠Keep up the amazing work⤠you got this!
