Does anyone have any experience with, or know if it's okay to make like a shredded paper or confetti-like type of dig box?
My wee sprite has this thing the last week or two where she REALLY appreciates that our bedroom's tiny waste bin has got tissues in it. She loves tipping over the bin and the lying on her back and flopping tissues in the air. Think of the scenes from movies where the girl lies down on a grassy hill under a tree that has petals falling everywhere and tossing those petals up into the air over and over with sheer glee. That is my little Athena with crumpled tissues right now, and it's one of the first things she does every day.
I was hoping that maybe a dig box with something she can lie on her back and toss up above her like that would make her little ferret-y day. Of course, I'd be concerned with possible accidental blockages if any of that gets ingested by mistake. Any ideas?
Boxes we already made: Dirt Dig Box, Bean Dig Box, Plastic Easter Egg Ball Pit, Leaf Dig Box (Seasonal), Snow Dig Box (Seasonal)

I've used shredded paper, mixed success...my guys prefer to sleep in it but, my UK crew were raised using shredded paper as bedding. I suppose this would probably be a probable conclusion. Years ago, I purchased some of those bags of paper for stuffing Easter baskets and the guys enjoyed it ciao

Thanks Heather! That's good to know. Three of my lot haven't ever really been introduced to paper bedding other than back in their earliest kit days. Loki, my eldest, had it as a kit and a for a few months before we switched to fleece bedding, but that's a long time ago now. So I'm not sure if they'd try to sleep in it or not, but I guess it isn't a problem if they want to. I do hope to make their new room entirely tailored to their needs by providing lots of entertainment and sleeping nests. Do you think this would work? This is what I've seen Easter Baskets and the like get stuffed with here:

That looks similar to what I bought. My rescues played in it until it got squashed down. It does absorb scents so changing it out regularly is a necessity ciao

Thanks! I think we might give it a shot. I'm just hoping to replicate somehow the happiness playing around in crumpled tissues seem to be giving my wee girl. She just loves it SO, SO much, but in the new house they will not be allowed to play in our bedroom as they do now in an attempt to keep allergens lower for my asthma and hubby from tripping over squeaker toys in the middle of the night, lol.

My guys absolutely love crinkley shredded paper! We have some for bedding in my girls favourite drawer and some in a dig box. But I found that it's really hard to find in the off season but it's super easy to make. You just need a paper shredder/scissors and a thicker type of paper. Happy shredding!
