It started as it too often does. A trip to the pet store to pick up some mice for the ferrets. One of the girls I knew there came to see me, carrying this tiny bundle of dark fur, with these bright curious eyes. 8 months old. Passed her to me and said "if she doesn't find a home by tonight she is being sent back". Meaning she would be euthanized. Having 6 ferrets already, and 2 fosters, after giving scritches, and getting kisses, I pulled on my inner strength that says "you can't save them all" and passed her back with the wishes for her to find a home.
I got home and told Cliff about her and we talked. He told me "you know you won't let that happen" and sent me back to get her.
The minute I picked her up she started giving me kisses everywhere she could reach <3 Face, neck, arms, etc. I set her on the floor so I could fill out the paperwork (closed cubicle), and she immediately started climbing my pants leg to get back up and start giving kisses again. My friend looked at me and said I didn't realize she was such a sookie girl. She got her name then. I called "Suki?" And she turned to look at me.
Put her in the carrier and took her home.
Do you know it was another 2 YEARS before she gave me another kiss? Lol. Had to catch her sleepy to get any.
She and Miss Emily hit immediately off right away. Willow was another story. She did NOT want this interloper in HER home, playing with HER friend! It took a pretty intensive month to get Willow to accept her. After that the 3 were inseparable.
Time went on. She lost Willow, but she and Emily had each other. By this point I was able to integrate them with another group so they could have another cuddle pile again.
Suki also discovered she could make the cats squeak and run when she bit them :/ Unfortunately that also triggered her prey drive. She terrorized those poor cats! They were all terrified of her.
Almost 8 year had gone by when Miss Emily passed beginning of last month. Then a month or so ago she suddenly couldn't use her hind end. X-rays showed no damage or injury. Organs etc were all good. Diagnosis was spinal thrombosis. With water therapy, and exercises she's was slowly regaining use of her legs again. She got used to her flyer and would bomb around in it outside. Euel made her another, shorter one so she would be able to he really get her legs moving to build up strength in in them.
2 weeks ago in noticed a small lump at her left lower jaw. It grew quickly. Xray showed cloudy area at her lower back molar. Assumption was to both root abscess. Week's dose of clavamox should have set it right. It got larger. Back in in and a needle aspiration pulled up pus. On clindimycin and pred for inflammation. It got larger. Long story short she had and very aggressive tumour that grew to almost the size of her head in under two weeks.
She is at peace now, and the 3 amigos have have been reunited.
