Hello, I should be adopting my first ferret in October. The one I'm interested in is 4 years old and has insulinoma, if she's still available I am going to adopt her (I know what to prepare for) I want to put her on the raw diet but have no idea what to do. I'm not seeing much about it for ferrets with insulinoma. I was also wondering if doing the soup would be good for an all the time thing because I read something that said ferrets with insulinoma have a hard time eating on their own. I will try chunks of meat, organs, and bones as well to see if she'll eat them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much Quick note: I have a veterinarian who will treat her.

I would strongly suggest applying for a mentor at that time. Read through the files. Check out some of the graduating switches that are posted in the archives. The mentors actually have to pick up what is called a difficult or higher risk switch. Your wee one would fall under that classification. By posting questions and getting answers you will be able to have your minimum posts and be all set up for when you get your ferret to apply for a mentor ciao

Yes, as soon as yo adopt her, or sooner because you have to have so many posts before being approved. Diet may not be a cure, but it will help manage the disease and add some life span. Hope you get her.

Hello! Thank you everyone for responding. The lady who runs the rescue said she is having a difficult time keeping her stable on the prednisone and she is now unadoptable. It's sad but I think it's probably a good thing seeing as I'll be volunteering and hopefully working soon. So I have another one picked out and I believe she is healthy, I still need to email the rescue about her.

That is so sad about the one you had previously picked. Do show pics when you get the other. Some of us are using Imgur to transfer pics here.
