I don't know why, but I'm unable to use that link, it says there is an error Weird I just tried it on my work computer and it worked fine... I guess I'm just special! When I click on it, it says "sorry guest you are BANNED" I have no idea why, but oh well...

That's really weird, Rose. I just double checked, and while only staff can post to that area(ferret health resources), even guests can view it. That, and the fact it's calling you a guest?

My boys are RC ferrets, they're four years old now. When they were just over a year old I tried to buy another ferret and there was about a six mth period where there were no ferret kit s to be had. The pet store contacted me when kits were brought in. Turns out there was "some problems" at the farm and they couldn't get any RC kits. So the store got Hagen kits, which is (supposibly) another farm tied to RC. I realize people don't like ferret farms like RC,Marshalls etc...but where I live and probably most places in Canada there aren't breeders to buy kits from. The couple of bkyd breeders that I did hear of were shut down because of neglect and cruelity. RC kits can be bought here.

That's what I've found when doing some research as well. I couldn't find a single small scale breeder anywhere. I thought I was missing something but that's how it seems to be in this area or most of Canada perhaps.

That is the problem in trying to find quality ferrets up here. There are a couple of byb operating in the area but nothing that I would want to hook in with. Unfortunately, you make do with what's available, for most Canadians its the farms and pet stores that you have to buy from. You can do some major investigating, the nearest reputable US breeder is about 9 hrs from me or you go overseas and do your investigating there. ciao

I did look into a few places in Michigan and Ohio, but with ferrets being illegal in Windsor now I wasn't sure how many issues I would get trying to cross at the Windsor/Detroit bridge with one?

It shouldn't be a problem as you're really just coming into Canada, not Windsor. If there was a problem they should look as where the ferret is going vs just coming in . I would and you do have to clear through and get paper work from the Fish and Game Dpt (I'm not sure I have the right Dpt, in fact I'm almost positive that's not it) I have a feeling it's the Food and Drug Dpt (I just remember that it was so weird that I had to import a ferret through them) anyway...it's easy to look up and they're really friendly..confused but friendly lol. As long as you've got all the paperwork to bring your little one in, there should be no problems...just make sure that you have your rabies paperwork and your import schedule completed....then you should be good to go. By the way..don't ever try and smuggle a live animal across the boarder...they take them ciao
