My 1yr old fur baby badger dumped the small garbage can[it didn't hit him] the only thing in it was cig butts and ashes. But he did get ashes in his one eye. It looks to be alittle swollen and he is squinting with it. Any ideas on what to do. I had a vet tech tell me to use warm wash cloth and I've been doing that his and it does seem to be looking better at times. But was just wondering if anyone else had an idea ,, thank you in advanced.

Personally, I'd take him to the vet to make sure you don't need something for inflammation and infection, unless properly treated some eye issues can lead to permanent damage like blindness. Something to keep in your ferret medical box for future use, would be a bottle of saline solution (not the eye allergy types, but the gentle, pure ones used for lubricating/flushing eyes in say people who've had LASIK surgery done).
And in the future, do not keep anything your ferret shouldn't get into in any small trash cans. They love tipping those over and getting into stuff. Please throw all thing like cigarette buds, ash, food wrappers, food, chemical bottles and wrappers (this includes things for the bathroom), etc. in a tall kitchen trash can. Those small step pedal cans won't deter a ferret either, they learn to open them, the only trash cans that are safe are the big kitchen ones. Try to keep small cans for paper waste instead.

If within 24 hours of rinsing the eye it isn't healed, then vet.
