Figured it was probably a good time to update with some baby pics. These were taken last night, as everyone was having their dinner. The wee ones still have their eyes closed but that doesn't mean they cannot find their way to the food bowl or to their poo corner. It was much simpler when mom cleaned up after them ciao

Aww, aren't they just adorable wee meat-gobbling cottonballs right now! This is an excellent photo to show how young ferrets can start eating meat, their appropriate diet, and I hope it can help convince the people who come across it. I hear too often people with a new kit (which are much older than these wee babies) using the excuse "I'll wait till they get a little older to try meat"/"I don't think they can eat raw this young".

I've actually got a video of them consuming their mothers whole meat meal (can't seem to get it to load to photobucket anymore * ), I've posted it to the Misty Mountain page on FB. I had fed the meepers their meat mush and they'd all moved back to the nest and were wrestling and biting each other's ears. For fun, I added a pan of Lady DeeDee's meats (whole stewing beef)...the wee land piranhas had basically finished it while she was outside chasing lightning bugs. She was none to happy with them or more likely me lol. She pulled the meats out of their mouths, put it in a corner for later and curled up and nursed them, giving me a really dirty look ciao

They really went to town on that stewing beef in that video! Likely felt good on their little teeth and gums.

The wee ones are going all over the place. Most going to the US (two maybe 3 out to the west coast), a couple to the Columbus area. I may have a wee hob who will be in need of a pet home depending on whether Merida graces me with a litter of poley kits or not. I'm keeping 2 for myself, a jill and a hob. I like this litter. It's a good solid litter with good bone and lots of potential. They're just solid, happy little meepers. There's a lot of their father in them. He's the most loving, sweet, laid back hob and for a jill, DeeDee, has a wonderful, playful personality. I'm starting to see that in their kits too. The kits all decided on Sunday night that the nest was not the place to be and en masse moved out. Their eyes are now open (I've got one little jill, who's holding out) and adventure is the name of the game now. A wee one who's nomming on turkey ribs (if photobucket allowed the share ciao
