Same for the chicken feet, unless you see it causing concerns in their poops, like making them too hard. Okay, for the quiz. 1. Vitamin A, which is fat-soluble. Because it is fat-soluble only, it is important that ferrets do not get too much liver, as it will accumulate in their systems and lead to a Vitamin A toxicity. 2. Seems you missed this one. The answer is 10% of the total diet should be hearts. 3. Correct! 4. Correct. Too much bone will result in very hard poops, often white and chalky-looking, and sometimes also seedy in appearance. Too little bone will result in runny, wet poops. 5. So the Blockage Protocol uses pure pumpkin (canned is easiest to get for most people), and petroleum jelly (Vaseline). It is as follows: Give 1 tbsp of pumpkin, followed an hour later by 1tsp of Vaseline. This is repeated for a total of 4 hours usually, by which time you should see nice, big orange poops coming through. If the ferret throws up during any stage, it's time for an immediate vet visit. Read more here: holisticferretforum.com/health/blockages/blockage-protocol/6. Correct! The reason why we do not feed cooked foods, is because once cooked the food loses their nutrients and end up with basically no nutritional value at all anymore.

There appears to be one person in line ahead of you right now dear. But as mentors get freed up to help, sometimes several people get a mentor all at the same time.

Oh no, wee little bugger! You will need to start checking blankets and toys regularly to make sure she doesn't do a repeat offense. I do a toy check every morning, as I do have a chewer and need to make sure if a toy gets damaged that I remove and fix or toss it. Luckily they do not chew their bedding, thank God, doesn't mean I don't check at least twice a week. I change bedding for fresh ones once a week, so I properly check everything then too.
Let me know how the Protocol goes, and keep a very close eye on her, you want to get nice, big orange poops in a few hours. Remember, if she vomits or goes really lethargic, get to a vet immediately. For blockages the test to request will be a Barium X-ray, which will show if surgery is needed and can sometimes even push out a smaller blockage.
I always have some paper towels and some chopsticks/toothpicks nearby so I can dissect the pumpkin poops and see if they contain pieces of/the item in question. Also, if you struggle with her eating either pumpkin or vaseline, there are ways to make her more inclined to accept it. Like warming the pumpkin a little or adding a little water to make it a bit less thick, or mixing a little salmon oil or egg with either pumpkin or vaseline if she struggles with either of those.
And when in doubt about who the culprit could have been, I tend to do everybody suspect on the Protocol.

LindaM I do check toys and cage every other day because I know Mimi is a chewer but this is the first time shes chewed fabric. Spazz has never chewed anything sept well till raw food haha. But keeping an eye on both girls poops im 100% it was mimi and vets already know we are coming if we don't get a good outcome from protocol. Ever since I got mimi shes a rescue ive had to check toys regularly, and I usually toss them if any signs of chewings, im paranoid when comes to them getting hurt or eating something they shouldnt

Sadly, this just seems to be part of life with ferrets. Before I got my two adopted ferrets, I never had any concerns, neither Loki nor Athena ever chewed anything, and rarely a toy would ever get really hurt. But my Waardy boy, Apollo... he is a little chewy sh*t, he has this thing where he goes for the eyes of toys (I never get beaded or plastic eyed toys, only embroidered/flat cloth), and he will chew and chew and chew until he rips into the stuffing at the eyes. Little psycho furball, he makes my toy-hoarding alpha, Athena, very mad when he ruins her stashed toys.
Since Mimi has now shown that she is very willing and capable to munch through their bedding, you may need to check through it daily (this could've been just a once-off event after all), else-wise removing it if she continues would be better to prevent any future blockages from happening.

Sorry I've been a bit quiet today, the hubby and I went out to a Festival of Colors at the Krishna Temple up in the city, and now I'm back home trying to get all the stains off of myself, so I thought I'd check in on you guys as well while I'm at it.
How is Mimi doing today? Does it seem like she pooped out all of the fabric in question since yesterday? How are her energy levels, is she still happily eating and drinking?

That's wonderful to hear. Poor girl, I don't blame her, nobody wants the yucky protocol, but in many cases it can be a real lifesaver. And she'll forgive you mommy, after you've sufficiently grovelled and begged for forgiveness, haha. Hopefully it'll teach her a lesson about chewing her blankets, but I really doubt it. Some things seem just too easy for them to forget compared to other naughty things.
