Today a laid my abbey to rest in my garden with my other babies. I was going to lay her under my japanese maple and even bought a plant that would thrive in the shade. But it seemed so cold and alone there, so I put her in the sunshine, and I knew for sure I had picked the right spot when I hit some cloth like material. It was one of my other ferrets that I had buried there about 7 years ago or my son's guinea pig. I put the little bones in the basket with abbey. I will pass by them each day.
You made the endorphins go off each time I laid your sleepy body across my shoulder.
Abbey had a mass on her liver and it ruptured. Her stomach began to fill with blood. Symptoms included a iron count of 19. Her little pink nose went white, which I would not have noticed but the assistant spotted it. Her temp was 93 which should have been 101. I did notice she was cool to touch this morning and she was weak today as to why I took her in. The vet said she was in shock. She probably would have not made it thru surgery in her condition.
So sweet of my vet to do the necropsy for free.
Abbey was 6.5 years old. Half of her life was on kibble, I do not know if that has anything to do with it or not. My vet believes ferrets do not live long because they do not have good genetics.

My deepest condolences to you, may your little one forever dook happily with her friends at the Bridge. Her memory shall always live in that piece of your heart that she's stolen and stashed away.

Oh no, I'm so sorry. What a shock for it to happen suddenly like that out of nowhere. She had a great life with you, and knew she was loved.

Our hearts are with you. Dook on, sweet Abbey. Ferrets can only live forever in our hearts. She'll live there as long as you remember.
