I leave whole chicken hearts for at least 12 hours, sometimes more. Chopped up to 12 I'd say.

So Albie loves hearts and Gwin is unsure. I'm not certain that he ate any of them last night. Albie is also really good with the bone in pieces but Gwin again is unsure. So that is where we are right now...

Have you tried seeing if Gwin is a bit more sure about eating them if you offer him some heart from your hand or a spoon while in your lap?
For the bone-in, you could tie a string to it and shake and move it about like a cat toy, kinda make a game of it to get him interested in it.

I think Albie ate a little bit of the bone in meat today but I don't know if Gwin did. Most of it is leftover. I'm going to leave it in the cage and try some tough love and see if they eat. They just fight me at every change.
Yes I tried to feed hearts to Gwin by hand but be just acts like I'm sticking something really gross in his mouth and runs off after.

It may take a few tries of getting him to eat some by hand, was he eating it okay when you used a soupie drizzle on it?

I didn't put soupie on the bone in meat. I figured since they were already eating chicken chunks without soupie that the taste would be the same or similar enough.

I gave it to Gwin by hand just now and he wouldn't eat it. Then I picked it up and gave it to him again and now he is eating hen thigh and the bone! I'm super happy!

Sorry, I actually meant the heart when I asked that. But hey, bone progress! That's great!

That is fantastic they are eating the bones now Okay, plan is to work an approximate menu with appropriate numbers of bone in meals(7-9), heart meals(1.5), liver meals(1.5- you will work another organ in very soon), and 2-4 muscle meat meals. The number of bone in meals will be determined by their stools once finished detox(this is different for every ferret). Generally after about a month or 6 weeks of full raw. If the stools are too liquidy, try 8 meals a week. If necessary 9. This does NOT include the stools after heart/liver/organ Since they are now eating the bone okay, give them that for 2 or 3 days to get them used to it, and we will mix in another protein. Pork is often well accepted Turkey also.

I have the sample weekly meal plan stuck to my fridge so I figure I will follow that for now and see how that goes. Still trying to get them to eat heart and liver consistently. They aren't consistently eating much of the bone in stuff yet so I agree on the keeping them at this point for a few days. I want to make sure they are consistent before I move on. I also have some ground up quail carcass in my freezer since it was something I could get the extra pound with in my Hare Today order. I figured we could try them with it at some point. Especially since I have decided I want to go whole prey by the end of this. I want to get them use to things that they might eat at that point.

Giving them some heart with soup tonight and tried to hand feed pureed liver. They started to eat a little bit of the liver and then found a not so pureed piece got wigged and stopped eating. The problem with the liver seems like it could be texture. They seemed more interested in the heart with the soup so we will see how that goes tonight.

You can keep them on heart and/or liver soup for as long as needed. TBH I kind of used the excuse of hand feeding the liver once a week as a bonding tool with them This was with my first group of four. They each loved time on momma's lap for a weekly spoon feed. And we have come almost full circle with my group of oldsters now. They began to refuse liver/other organ when intact, so they get a couple dishes of pureed soup now Your plan for the quail is a good one. Let me know how it goes with the bone

I think I will start pureeing the liver and kidney together and spoon feeding that once a week.

They ate all the hearts last night! :boing: Excellent news!!! And for the liver/other organ, do that Once we start getting your diet filled out, they will also be getting that one meal a week also of 1/2 heart, 1/4 liver, 1/4 other organ(which you can also puree). But we can worry about that in a bit
