While looking into adding another fuzzbutt to my household I found myself owning a fuzzie of a different kind. I got a sudden request to take in a cat that needed a home. Her name is Daisy and she folows me around like a duckling everywhere i go. She's half way between cautios and playfull with the ferrets. Which is depressing to my little girl since she origonally came frome a home h.that had five cats and despratly want to play with her every time she sees her. Right now I want to switch her onto a good kibble, she was eating purina (yuck corn) and would like some advise on switching a cat. Since I'm going on a vacation at the end of the month I'll kibble until i come back at least. That way I can devote more time to the switching process Right now she's vary hard core kibble. She wont touch anything non kibble, no treats or even tuna. Once I have her switched to a better kibble any one got some good advise on their experences on switching a kibble kitty over? img30.imageshack.us/i/daisym.jpg/

Start her slow. Mix in a few of the new kibbles with the old on a daily basis(maybe only 10 new kibble if she's stubborn), and in the interim, mix about 25% new, 75% old in a sealed container for at least a week, then up it to 50/50, etc. With putting them together, the smells kind of "average out", so generally there's not as much of an objection. Oh- she's GORGEOUS!!! I'm glad you were able to give her a home

You know cats' dietary needs are almsot identical to ferrets. A little different on the bone:organ:muscle ratio but otherwise the same. The switching process for cats is very similar to ferrets. One small step at a time... And what a pretty girl! She reminds me of my friend's cat Rain who they found as a stray and took in...

Oh, she's beautiful....gorgeous. I would go about trying to change her to moist asap. It will make your whole switching thing so much easier. The problem is trying to get her there Finding one she likes, especially if she's a hard core kibble addict. Congratulations ;D ;D ciao

I agree with Heather. rawfedcats.org is an excellent resource, as is the yahoo list "RawPaws". I think your new kitty is a beautiful one!!! She's so fluffy! =^.^= But switching over to canned really helps on the way to raw.
