I just noticed my ferrets didn't touch their food from this morning. Usually its gone by just a bit later. My female Mizore is active as ever, my male Mousse seems more lethargic than usual, he's pretty lazy in general though. Mousse seemed to have a couple little boogers(or wet litter? I use the paper pellets) in his nose and his eyes seem a little watery. He ate some when I made him a soup of their commercial raw grind. This is the first skipped meal since I got them about a month ago. I'm not sure what their heart rate is supposed to be but it seemed to be beating a little fast? I checked Mizore to compare and it seemed about the same? I'm trying to figure out if this is an emergency or if he can wait until morning to try to get him to my normal vet? You never know if emergency vets really know their stuff.
Could I wake up like every hour to check on him and see if his condition changes and take him if I have to? Does this sound like just a little ferret cold or an off day?

Their heartbeats are normally much faster then a humans. Keep giving him soup tonight and water and get him to the vet tomorrow. Has any one in your house been sick lately? Ferrets can not catch a human cold but they can get the flu from us. Is he eating willingly or are you having to force feed him?

His heartbeat is fast when he's resting, and Mizores is fast as she's walking around and exploring. If anything happens to him ill just die.. I had a health scare myself this week so a little low on funds for an emergency vet trip but if he's in serious trouble ill take him he's worth it.. He is eating willingly, he didnt eat a whole lotb maybe we spoonfuls I put him down to walk around, to see if he was super lethargic or if he'd walk around, he does but them looks for a snuggle sack or blanket to crawl under and lay down. About 10 minutes later I tried feeding again and he took another like spoonful and like a quarter? I was sick a week and a half 2 weeks ago but I don't believe it was a flu though I don't know, it was all in my throat, throat hurting, slight cough towards the end Their heartbeats are normally much faster then a humans. Keep giving him soup tonight and water and get him to the vet tomorrow. Has any one in your house been sick lately? Ferrets can not catch a human cold but they can get the flu from us. Is he eating willingly or are you having to force feed him?

Offer some soup every couple of hours, if he takes a turn for the worse at all to the er vet but as long as he is eating and drinking for you with some activity, taking him to the vet first thing in the morning should be fine. Again though any changes to the er vet.

He gets up moves around for a little while and then goes back to snuggling in a blanket and sleeping. He hack or coughed a little of the liquid soup up when I had him wrapped in a blabket, so he might have had his throat laying against my arm, but I fed him after and he took another like spoonful and a quarter

Went to the vet this morning, I call for an update in the morning. It was a blockage they're trying something natural to see if it moves and if not then we have to do surgery. Fingers crossed he will be okay

He is on medication to help him pass it vet said at this point its moving and that it has gotten past the spot where most blockages occur and need surgery to remove in the small intestine and if it was his personal pet he would hold off on surgery. I got him home and he tried to hack up a little but nothing came up, he drank some water after that and went to sleep, he's lethargic, but that could be due to the blockage and spending all day at the vet today..

Metoclopramide is what they're giving him every 12 hours for the next 3 days Vet says its good that its moving. They did more xrays after the barium and it did move.. He did fight me when I have him his meds. Hes still pretty lethargic.. He got up walked around a bit tried to hack up more and then went to sleep..

His respiratory rate is I think I counted 26 per minute..its supposed to between 30 and 40 right I'm terrified to go to an e vet because I don't know how experienced they are.. And after today's vet trip combined with the amount it would cost at an emergency clinic for surgery..I couldn't afford it without a payment plan or something which I'm sure they probably don't do
