I am a beginner at all this! I have read alot of the threads about starting the ferret off w/ a meat soup! I called my local grocery store butcher and I am able to easily get hold of chicken livers, drumsticks, breasts, ground turkey, pork loin and ribs. But I was looking over the hare-today website and thinking about ordering some stuff too. Should I wait for my hare order or is their a soup I can make w/ what I have now???

Definitely go ahead and start Take about 8 oz of chicken meat, a liver, a couple of hearts, 1/2 tsp powdered eggshell( I use a coffee grinder for this), puree the lot with enough water to make it "soupy". Grab a ferret and offer them some from your finger. You will likely have to dab it on their nose/lips to get them to taste it. Do that frequently until they take it willingly from your finger, then move to a spoon. Don't be surprised by any reaction you get ;D I got spitting, gagging, retching, twisting, etc. They will think you are trying to poison them

You sure can, my ferrets haven't had heart yet either and they are doing great. Of course you'll want to eventually add some heart, but in the beginning, you don't need to worry about it too much.

Also I forgot to ask .... on the hare-today site they have ground chicken/bone/organs ... would that include all the nutrients they'd need???

A fully balanced natural ferret diet consists of 75% muscle meat, 10% edible bone, 10% organ, and 5% roughage. They will need at least three proteins a week (i.e. chicken, pork, duck etc.), and until they are eating bone you will also want to add some powdered eggshell for extra calcium that they get from bones. What you could do for the roughage is maybe add a little canned pumpkin, it has high fiber and low sugar, naturally they get this from the skin, fur, and feathers (possibly even stomach contents) of other animals. I hope that answered your question.

Im not 100% but I think hare today has some mixes that include fur and feathers, no? If so, you shouldn't need to add any pumpkin If it were me, I'd get them eating the soup before placing an order.
