The rabbit is in the cage. I hate handling whole prey so I'm not gonna weigh it but they are eating it...

TGIF! Sorry I've been AWOL Frozen sardines are great. Fish are an excellent source of nutrition in moderation. However too much will make for some stinky little boogers, lol. There's something about your menu we need to discuss, because I was mistaken. The ground lamb/heart meal will need to be 100%, here's why: rabbit is not a sufficient source of taurine. I believe this is because farm rabbits are not as nutritious. But I am going to research that & come back with some more details on that. You & your ferrets are doing fantastic! Do you have any questions?

Nope we are doing good. :-) I'll give them a heart meal instead of lamb like you said then.

Just posting to say everyone is doing good. I give them 8 to 9 oz a meal and they usually have 1oz or so left over.

That's fantastic - sounds like they have great appetites. Your switch had a tad of a rocky start, and I'm so happy you stuck with raw! It happens to everyone, especially around the holidays. Recently my car died, and we get food over an hour away & I became painfully aware of the fact I had no back up plan to feed a whole menagerie! So I'd like you to plan out 2 balanced back up menus: (I swear there is an end to menu making, lol) 1) Frankenprey ONLY menu 2) Frankenprey + Wholeprey mix HFF has a handy chart about balancing frankenprey + "whole" meals. Other then wholeprey, what are other raw options that can be balanced with this chart?

The only other raw option I know of is Comercial grinds.
And I'll get the menus to you on one of my days off Monday and Tuesday if that's ok?
As for my furries I just plan to repeat the menu I sent last time and all is still doing well.

Almost You are short an organ meal; weekly they need 1.5 heart and 1.5 organ. So the half ground/heart, needs to be half heart/half liver (or 1/4 liver & 1/4 other). Lamb leg counts as muscle meat, as the bone is too dense for ferrets to eat. Post your current menu & if it looks good I can submit it for graduation

Congratulations  You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone :wave3: . You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets, you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days the thread will be locked down and be placed in the archives but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly :goodjob:
ciao
