Ferrets eat multiple times during the day, so you need to do more than 2 meals. Since I both kibble feed and raw feed, I can get away with 2 raw meals, but the rest of them they get to eat some kibble when hungry.
Problem with what you want to do with the kibble is, that at that stage they're likely not going to see kibble as a food, so if you do end up without any frozen raw in the house and decide to give kibble, they probably won't want to eat it. Instead, keep a bag of freeze-dried raw for emergencies. You just rehydrate it with some warm water and then give it to your ferrets. It works very well for emergency situations. But do give some once in a while so they get the idea and remember that it is food they can eat.
I use mostly PureBites, Stella & Chewys, but also NV Instinct's FDR.

I only feed twice a day. Always have. In the morning they get their commercial frozen raw, in the evening their chunks. So between morning after finishing and evening meal they have nothing to snack on(for healthy ones. Insulinoma/old ones get one extra meal). If using the Nature's Variety you can use dog or cat, just watch it is at least 95%, and doesn't have honey added. Some of the dog ones do. If he takes to the raw, I'd not bother with the kibble. IMO giving kibble actually defeats the purpose of raw feeding.
