Update: found what looks like parts of some kind of bug in his vomit and the rest was white foam. Maybe this upset his stomach? He's rather lethargic now Dunno if I should feed him. He did drink water on his own.

Gosh. I hope your little one will be ok. We have had stinkbugs invade our house since the weather has gotten colder. Hopefully he has found a nasty bug and that is it and he will be ok.
Hope someone on forum can give you some advice.

It sounds like an obstruction. I am an incredible newbie to his and extreme lethargy may be a contraindication, but the blockage protocol is usually what's recommended. There are no ER vets anywhere within 30-40 even? He sounds like an emergency for sure. I am so, so sorry. I wish I could be of more help.

Were you able to get him in to a vet? How's he doing?

Thank you guys for your replies, I did read them but I was glued to my little one all night. At first it seemed as though he was choking badly so I checked his mouth and throat and saw nothing so I decided to swing him After two swings I sat him down and he vomited the ran away and vomited again. This was followed by a normal poop and then a tiny green diarrhea. After that he laid in the floor and scratched the top of his mouth with both paws so my husband and I checked his mouth again, nothing. After a while of him just laying on my husbands stomach completely gave out, I ran the protocol on him and he was able to eat a tiny amount but acted like he had a sore mouth (backing away squinting). After an hour he ate and drank more, and decided to run around a little before bed. I woke up several times to check on him and he did fine through the night. I made a vet appointment with the only ferret vet in my area today and I am going to ask her what I should do in an emergency with no ferret vet on call at our er vet. My town is the only thing around for hours when it comes to vets. The only thing I found strange was in both vomits he had obviously eaten a bug. Thanks again everyone...I will let yall know what the vet says.

Please do keep us updated. Scratching at the mouth is definitely a sign of nausea as well as pain. Positive thoughts for your little guy!

Well I took him (Ottis) and my other little guy (Oxley) just to be safe. The vet said that the bug or bug parts were probably stuck in his throat and that giving him the Heimlich made it come out. She said its not uncommon for bugs to upset there stomachs too. She also said he was hydrated and had a nice soft tummy and that he seems to have recovered fully. Thanks to what I have learned on this site from everyone I feel like I was able to help him out last night. I was also given the names and numbers of all the ferret vets in my town and the cities surrounding me in case of an emergency. Thank you again everyone so much.

That's great to hear! I'm so glad your guys are doing good now, hopefully there will be no more bug noshing! I've been lucky thus far with my ferrets, that only my cat is the idiot who tries to eat anything else that moves, for good or bad, lol.

I'm soooo glad he's okay. I thought for sure I was going to hear bad news today. Yay!
I never heard of the swinging thing. Do you just do that when you think they're choking? Is that the heimlich thing you were talking about? How do you do it?
