I'm preparing to take my ferret to the vet but I need more info on what I might be facing. My baby is having painfull liquid poop with some bright red streaks throughout. The liquid poop has been happening since yesterday evening. He may even have a fever. He's not eating and not drinking. I'm having to help him drink so he doesn't get dehydrated. Could this be a blockage? Please help.

It could well be. He will need a barium xray (you may have to push the vet for this ( as a regular xray will only show up hard blockages. Not things like foam etc. Good luck and keep us informed.

I can't find an emergency vet that will see him today. 😡 Should I do a blockage protocol? I'm scared to death I'll lose him before I can get him in.

He needs a vet. If he puked while trying the blockage protocol you need to rush him in immediately. There isn't an emergency clinic? I'd almost want to suggest taking him in anyways, appt or no. At least when you're there you're harder to ignore. Bring a sample of poo with you so they see what you see.

I think if you post the city your in that the members of the board will help you locate an emergency vet hospital. I don't know the answer to your question though. Have you done the protocol at all since yesterday when it started?

In your other posts he usually had a hairball when you where scared of a blockage. If he's lethargic and not eating or drinking it's time to go to the vet. I know our nearest 24 hour emergency animal hospital is an hour or two away, have you expanded your reach that far?

If he is still playing and whatnot I would be inclined to try the blockage protocol. But I wouldn't risk it if he wasn't and I'd make sure I'd have an emergency vet ready just in case he throws up.

He has something a string or something in his intestines that's causing them to cordian up on themselves. They gave him anti nausea med and anti diarrhea med and pain med to see if they can't get it all to relax and possibly pass it. But they don't think it's likely. He is very very sick. And I might lose him. My heart is breaking.

Upload to YouTube and then post the link here. Is surgery an option?
