I gather she is on scheduled meal times? Also, ditch the kibble for now. The weight will start coming off just by doing that. Just give her the wet. Next time, before feeding, offer her some raw tidbits instead of the wet. Give her about 30 minutes with them, then remove it. If she eats what you give her, you can offer more. Also, dont' be too surprised if she starts "detoxing". There will be some pretty nasty hairballs coming up, and frequently.

she has been getting 1oz of her wet food and the rest raw cut up in tiny pieces. no kibble since yesterday a.m. she normally gets fed her serving at night.

Oh, wow ! Alright, you can either get rid of the wet in that case. Just keep it as a lure in case you need to top any protein she's hesitant about. Let me know how she does with just the raw. Give her a couple of days, then introduce a second protein.

since she is not to picky (just dosnt care for chicken) she has already tried chopped up pinkie mice, hamburger, pork chop, and turkey burger. mi husband had to keep her out of the kitchen so she wouldn't get her nose cut of with the knife (she kept trying to steal the food from me.) also we went to the farm store to buy 1baby chick for the ferrets and 2 for our snake. well, that's not how it went. the snake got one and I put one in for the ferrets. our boy wouldn't share the chick so I had to put the second one in there. now I haven't SEEN ghost eat any of the food but she is still gaining weight. and when I put the second chick in, the girls fought over it. so I guess everybody is eating. chopper our little boy has gained 115 grams since we got him. his average is between 20-35 grams a day.

Fuzz sound like they are doing well! I think you should draw up a menu for them, so we can work from there. Sort of Mon. they get this, Tues. they get that, etc. Including cuts if it's fowl. And yeah, when cats decide they like raw, they go head over heels for it ;D . Ok, for kitty, can you try her with all chunk meat and whole pinkies, see how she does with them.

as far as menu, I have just been making sure they get in a 24hr period of time: 2 full rodents of different ages (for the bone and organs), beef, chicken, pork, turkey, and an egg 2x wk. for example: morning feeding would be rat, chicken (wing, breast, or thigh(all with bone))and pork or beef and for dinner they get mouse, turkey and pork. 2x wk they share an egg. when I have gerbil babies they each get one before bed. and today at human lunch time they shared 2 chicks. nobody eats the stomach/intestine. do they need that? if so what should I mix it with to get them to eat it? I have already made tomorrows meal but we will try chunks on Saturday.

As for the stomach/intestines, my fuzz apparently think they look much better as wall decorations ;D And no, they don't need them. Are they eating all of this reliably now? And do you understand the normal dietary rules for if you can't give them their normal whole prey for any period of time? Example, gods forbid, but if something were to happen to your breeding colonies, would you know how to feed them just from raw meat/bone/organ in the correct ratios?

Is it possible for you to draw up a weeks menu (you can add their snacks in too if you like ) so that anyone reading through this thread at a later date can get an idea as to what they need to work towards. These threads though sealed upon graduation are reference materials for others and it's always nice to see the menu and what it took to create it. Thank you ciao

hey, quick question. the past 2 nights our boy has been eating more. I have had to put more food in during the night. whenever I look at him he is eating. I realize he is still gaining weight so he won't be underweight. in the last 24hrs, he has gained another 45grams. he is now big enough that I can weigh him in #'s and oz instead of grams. have u found that there are ages whare they eat more than others (or go through growth spurts) what ages have u found this to happen?

Generally when they first transition to raw, once they are on it completely, their appetites will go through the roof ;D Before Sinnead passed, normal appetite, I'd feed about 5-6 oz per meal. During the time following switching them, they ate about 12-14 oz per meal Not to worry- they slow down after 2-3 months It's almost like their bodies suddenly realize they've got all this nutrition to catch up on, and go literally into overdrive. Just let them have however much they'll eat until they slow down on their own.
