Would you mind posting your weekly menu with all of the proteins you have now? 😀 once you do that and I get back home, I have amazing news! After that, all you have is your last quiz and you are graduated! >.> I have an early Christmas deal though, so I will put that quiz together when I get home. YOU'RE SO CLOSE!

Please be sure to specify on your menus protein and bones. Eg "rabbit pieces" - are those bineless or bone-in? And "boneless pieces" - what protein is that? Heather won't approve a menu without being sure that it is properly balanced, for which she/we need specifics. Also keep in mind that this menu is just a framework, and will change depending on what proteins you have, if they don't finish a meal and have leftovers for the next meat, if they have runny poops and you have to give them a bone meal on a day when they would normally get boneless, etc etc. It's all about being comfortable adjusting as needed to maintain the proper balance. RE the grinds, sorry that I missed this but can you please re-list grinds are you offering? Not all Hare Today grinds are properly balanced so it's important to read the ingredient proportions and adjust your menu accordingly. I don't know WHY (I swear I have been reading along), but I WS thinking your HareToday order was mostly chunked meat, not grinds.

X.x I thought I sent a reply here, but it turns out I didn't, I am so sorry! Katt, I have some questions about the grinds. If they have too much liver, would we have to mix another organ in with them? How would we go about balancing that out? Add extra heart too?

I'm so sorry guys. I have been all sorts of off the ball this month Ugh. I'm really, really sorry. My schedule and life has FINALLY officially slowed down as of today. :tornado: :pullhair: Okay now that I have time to actually sit down and go through this as thoroughly as you guys deserve...here is my spiel on the grinds.... Rabbit: 75% meat 15% bone 5% organs = 1/20 Duck: 71% meat 15% bone 10% organ = 2/20 Bone-content of the grinds is spot-on. Ferrets need 10-15% bone in their diet. 15% is a little on the high end so watch their poops and reduce your additional bone-in meals (wingettes) if they have hard, dry poops or seem constipated/backed up. Otherwise, for BONE CONTENT ONLY, treat the grinds as a prey item and follow this formula for adjusting your additional bone-in meals: holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/raw-diet-the-meat-of-the-site/balancing-frankenprey-with-alternative-meals/ (Which I see you have already done perfectly, just reinforcing the info). Heart is trickier. I am assuming there is no heart in the grinds because it is not listed. As such, your grinds weekly menu is half a meal short on heart. I will come back to this. Organs... 5% = 1/20th of a meal. (Thus 10% is 2/20th of a meal). We want the total organ content to be 1.5 meals (10%) of the diet. Your menu below with organ fractions: Grinds Diet Plan: Mon AM Wingettes BONE Mon PM Boneless chicken thigh pieces Tues AM Rabbit Grinds BONE, 1/20 meal organTues PM Duck Grinds, BONE, 2/20 meal organWed AM Wingettes BONE Wed PM Rabbit Grinds, BONE, 1/20 meal organThur AM Duck Grinds BONE, 2/20 meal organThur PM Rabbit Grinds BONE, 1/20 meal organFri AM Wingettes BONE Fri PM chicken hearts 1 Meal HeartSat AM Rabbit Grinds BONE, 1/20 meal organSat PM Duck Grinds BONE, 2/20 meal organ
Sun AM Wingettes BONE Sun PM Liver + Beef Lung 1 meal Organ (½ other)Heart: 1 meal Organ: 1 meal + 7/20 meals organ = 1.35 meals organ (rounds up to 1.4, exactly 10% of 14 meals) Bone: 7 meals “prey” + 4 meals bone = perfectAs you can see you are riiiight on the verge with the organ. Honestly out of 14 meals, 1.4 is a true 10% but explaining to someone how to make 0.4 of a meal would be absurd, so we round up. As such, I think your 1.35 is good. My one caveat is RE lung. Lung is GREAT to rotate in as it is a wonderful source of VitB and Iron and is something I personally feel is underfed (since it is so hard to find), BUT it is not a secreting organ. I would really like to see some kidney or something else added in eventually - something to think about on your net online order. In the meanwhile, I would consider alternating the 1/2 meal of lung every other week. So one week they get only liver, the next they get some lung. We can ask Heather for her thoughts on this when we submit your menu for approval for graduation too as she may think differently. Back to the heart...considering you are bordering on too heavy in bone (see above comment), and light on heart I would consider making one of your wingette meals a heart meal OR 1/2 heart. You can't overdo heart as far as taurine content goes, you can only over-do it in terms of soft poops. Too much heart can cause soft stools. So you will need to play with it a little. At least make one of the wingette meals half wingettes, half hearts, if not replace it entirely with hearts. Again, I am assuming there's no heart in the grinds. If there IS heart in the grinds, then you may be okay. But unless they specify HOW MUCH heart is in the grinds, I would still consider giving them the occasional extra heart meal. You can't over-do taurine, but you can under-do it. Please let me know if that all makes sense. It's a lot to throw at you (and why I wanted to sit down and my computer and really hash it out in good detail). I promise I'm back in action now and at your service, so any questions just ask away and I will answer!!
