Right?? That's what I said!
Well, they're either not interested, or not hungry haha. They had leftovers from last night, so I replaced those with the rabbit grinds, but there's not been any takers yet!

Hmmmm. You may have to spoon feed to get them interested.

If that doesn't work, do I use the ratio method with the chicken or is mixing protiens a bad idea?

Mixing should be good, just watch poops in case an allergy pops up 😀

Spoon feeding or mixing not necessary! THEY ATE IT! I'll post poops update tomorrow.

Just out of curiousity, you said ferrets self-regulate their food intake right? Would they keep eating a protien if they have an allergy to it?

If they had an allergy, depending on how bad, it could start with nausea (pawing at the mouth is a good sign of this. I don't remember the other signs), really foul poops (I've seen a few pictures and the color looks awful (greyish green sometimes), soupy/jelly, and it smells like death), and major projectile vomiting. Ferrets generally won't eat the meat if they smell something off about it, or, in some cases, they are pouting -.- (mine do this occasionally). This is why watching poops and behavior is so important. Are they taking to the new proteins okay?

Duck is thawing right now. I haven't noticed anything really concerning with the poops yet, maybe a little too loose.
You know, I checked the bowl after they finished the grinds, and I'm starting to think that they're not actually eating the bones at alland just eating around them. The bottom of tje bowls had bones in it, ones they should have had no problems eating.
I didn't notice befpre with the chicken wing because they were spread out.

I'm pretty sure it's just because it's new and their little bodies don't quite know what to do with the different protein. As for finding some bone shards in the bowl, one thing I will say is that when I was shattering turkey necks, bone shards were EVERYWHERE. It made me pretty nervous too, but when I gathered them all up, I realized it actually wasn't that much compared to what they were eating. I would like you to start feeding the menu I helped you with not too long ago. 😃 remember, you are feeding balanced grinds, and if you decide to work up to chunks permenantly, there was a link that I posted that helps figure out balancing such things. I do recommend your first idea of just ordering your whole menu from hare today, so you don't have problems trying to get someone to take you to buy the few things you can get locally. I can't wait to see your update with weights and such today!
