He keeps trying to escape when I try to get the string off. I hev never had birds or handled birds before so I really dont know what I am doing. And I think the string might be wrapped around his wing and I really just dont want to hurt his or tighten the string and make it worse or anything. Im just not comfortable removing it. He does have water. I dont know if he is drinking. He is not eating the fruit I gave him. I will try some sunflower seeds.

Do you have someone who can help you? Try draping a towel over top of him, pick him up that way- with both hands wrapped around his body, and have the other person uncover that area of the wing, and clip the string.

Ok feeling bad for him sitting in the carrier I looked at him and the string was wrapped around his feet and wing. It was loose so I took it off and released him. He was very happy to leave.

That's fantastic Glad you were able to help him like that I gather he's been picking at it himself to get it off?
