We ended up getting a new little friend for Mei so she has someone to keep her company when our classes start. We got a 2 month old male from Petco who is full of love and very playful. The only downside to little Max is that his poops smell HORRIFIC. I'm on my mother's laptop so I can't post pics until I'm back home tomorrow, but my nose screams urgency.
Max was being fed wet Marshalls food, now he is on a dry mix of Zupreem and Marshalls. Tomorrow they are both starting their transitions onto the raw diet (and a mentorship application will be filed once all pictures are taken and qualification are met). The Zupreem was new to him as of last night, so I assume that's probably what has his poo smelling so noxious.
His poop looks like kibble poo, big and brown with no mucous or weird colors. It looks like Mei's poop, just...bigger? Like he poops much more in quantity than she does. The smell is the typical kibble poop odor times 100. The smell permeates my room, the hall, and I can still smell it here in the living room. It's like some of Mei's poo is stuck in my nostrils. His pee smells very strongly of ammonia, more than Mei's ever has. I checked his butt to make sure he wasn't red and he looks perfectly normal and oblivious to the sheer horror he has left in his litter box.
What can I do to reduce the smell in the meantime? Since he's transitioning soon I assume the smell won't be as bad, but right now I can barely walk up to the cage without getting sick. I'm going to try and get him to drink some more water and see if that at least makes the ammonia smell die out. Should I remove the Zupreem and leave him with only Marshalls for now? At this point Mei and I are going to be sleeping on the couch
