The story goes this way ...
5 weeks ago we got a pair of fosters in our association. They are supposed to be 4,5 yrs old, not castrated, had to litters before. Owners got rid of them, since they were "not fertile" anymore and they went for a vaccation (which by some folks it is "a good reason" to get rid of your pet anyhow).
We did vet check - US for Hera (couldn't see anything), blood count for Hera (didn't know hw long she was in heat), she got buserelin shot, they both got treatment for earmites and we did fecal check. Eros was castrated few days after that.
A week ago Hera had a date for her spay and when she was brought in, I was "slightly" surprised ... She went straight to US instead to op. table and i was praying (not hard enough, I guess), that it was only phantom pregnancy. Well ... it was not. So, she moved in with me.
I was nervous since we did not know how long she is pregnant and when exactly to expect the babies.
I noticed some (obvious) kicking two days ago and there was slimmy discharge so i knew it will be soon. She waited until three o'clock in the morning and let me get three hours of beauty sleep, than it started. First popped out two minutes after I came from bedroom - like she was waiting for me Than it took like forever - more than an hour - and I was slightly panicking, bothering Heather and some other breeders to deliver the second and third kit. There was a bit of confusion with the third one, she had him in a litter box and forgot him outside the birthing box when she ran to the other two squeekers.
Than it went smoothly from there on, delivering in pairs about every 20-30 minutes.
I declared it to be over at no. 9 at 6.30 and went do some house cleaning (this is what all normal people do after staying awake half of the night ) and prepare meal for Hera.
I fed her some kitten milk replacer + yolk by the syringe than se decided to go out of nesting box and I could do a quick count again. And there were, to my big surrprise ... 12 wiggly meepers I counted three times and no, I did not make mistake ... I was not really the happiest about it - I tought we had a deal for 5, max 6 and 9 was way beyond this, but 12 ...
Hera is ok and the babies are ok (at the moment). I marked them allready but will weight them and check sexes in the evening.
