Hello everyone,
I'm having trouble with the doors on my Ferret Nation cage. The handles on a couple are difficult to open. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to loosen them. Would oil help? Maybe I got a bad batch, because there were a lot of other problems with the Ferret Nation Cage I got. One of the doors opens easily, but the other three require more effort to pry open.
I hope you all in late summer are staying cool during the heat.

Is it not on the hinge correctly or are the hinges bent? Is it the lock that's not working? ciao

2 of the doors on our 182 work more easily thanthe others and it's because the hinges aren't aligned just right. I put a little vaseline on them and it helps some. I can't say what's wrong with the handles tho.

One of my door panels was a little bit skewed and although the panel went in ok and the doors would open, they were very stiff. I contacted Midwest and sent them a few pictures, and they shipped out a new door panel the same day.

The hinges on all of them work fine, but the handles are stiff.

The hinges on all of them work fine, but the handles are stiff. Sorry, meant to say the handles were stiff. The hinges were fine. The Midwest rep thought it was probably because the locking bar was not lining up correctly with the holes. If it's a new cage, it's worth a call to Midwest.

I don't know if I just got a bad batch, but I've had problems with almost every piece of the cage, broken by design or shipping. I still believe this is the best cage out there for ferrets though. Bit of a side rant, but this seems like an example of how little effort big companies put into making products for our fuzzies. Based on my experience most of the top ferret products are mediocre at best. Comparing the consumer experience of having a more popular pet, like a dog, it's unbelievable what companies can get away with marketing for ferrets (ex. fruit treats...) I now understand the DIY mentality that a lot of ferrants have. I am very thankful to have discovered this forum promoting that self reliance

Midwest cage customer server is excellent. Contact them for any issues you have and they will take care of you.
While I do have many complaints about the Quality control of their manufacturing as of late they have never not offered to make it right.
I I don't know if they have recently farmed their manufacturing out to china but it does seem that the quality has went down since I bought my first 142 years ago.
