Oh, no! But how can anyone predict exactly how well a ferret will do with surgery, or even following it? You gave her what she needed most, when she needed it. Hug your other fuzz, and special hugs and kisses to Lola's bonded mate. She's not going to understand

I am so, so sorry to hear this. PLEASE do NOT beat yourself up...there is NO WAY to predict the outcome of any medical procedure - and avoiding medical procedure can have equally bad or worse results. All we can do is make the best decisions based upon the information we have at hand. That's the reality we face in life whether or not ferrets are involved. You gave your baby the very best anyone could, and she loves you for that. I believe that our pets remain with us forever...nothing else is acceptable since I can feel the warmth from my previous babies who cave crossed the bridge.
sending good thoughts and prayers your way, -jennifer

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please don't second guess having her go to surgery- she needed it, and even the vet didn't predict that she would have problems. It sounds like she had a wonderful few weeks with you, being loved and cared for and playing in her rice box. You gave that to her, by bravely opening your heart to a senior ferret.
