I notice my ferrets have lose stool when eating whole prey particularly mice. I gut, skin, and cut up mice and rats. Do u think this is the cause, that there is too much organ with no fur?
Reason for doing all the above:
My blaze stashes little things-- toys, rats, mice:/ first thing she did was stash the mouse i had for her breakfast. Then I go in another room to feed my other ferret. Once she spied that mouse, under the drawers she went with it
Abbey leaves stomach and tends to hack on fur which is usually wet since i rinse off mice. I do not know if there would be enough moisture without the gut, which the gut, she will not eat.
Did find out Annabelle is more enthused over breakfast when mouse is wholish(still gutted)
Edit: Decided will do a lock up in the playpen with mice and see just who is having problems.

If anything the stools should be at their best when fed whole prey. That is a totally balanced diet. If the ferret isn't hungry, they won't eat the stomach. In rats, I gut because I don't need the entrails left everywhere. Mice I feed whole. ciao
