A lot of us have Ferret Nation cages---and maybe you can aim for that in future(funds permitting of course). Sometimes you can find them on craigslist if u r in the United States. While mine is now disassembled because of my senior's knee, you can give more space if willing to cut thru cage and insert tubes using zip ties. I was remodelling this one at the time.

I know, thank you! I've actually had 3 in my past for rats, but sold them as I didn't plan on getting any more rats or ferrets lol. Right now this is the only cage I have room for and large enough. I was planning on getting rats, but decided on ferrets instead. Yes a ferret or critter nation is possible in the future . We plan on clearing out some to make space, so down the line I should have space for one .

You've got the shelves well set up, considering how difficult it is to work within that cage (that's one of my biggest complaints with them (and cleaning :face: ) One of the biggest issues with these cages (because of the shelving) is falls. You might consider getting some super hammies to create extra space and to help with itchy ferret falls. Either the Ferret Nation or Critter Nation will work well for the ferrets but they have their flaws too. It's what I prefer but only because it's the safest and best put together at the moment. I don't like vertical formats for ferrets (I know it's the easiest to do in limited space) but I don't like it. I work on the horizontal for my guys, so I put the cages together working on attaching horizontally. This allows the ferrets the same amount of room but it prevents them from climbing and working ramps ciao

Heather I agree with the vertical vs. horizontal living space. It can be the exact same square footage, but vertical seems way less functional. It's why I went triple wide x double high, instead of triple high x double wide. Especially when it came to feeding. 6 ferrets require a lot of space to eat Ferret Nations definitely have their flaws - the doors falling off while open; the shelves can be difficult to keep in because the piece that holds them in warps easy; the ladders take up a tonne of space... but they are nice looking, well put together, and a dream to clean. It's the only cage I've never had a ferret escape from. Plus, its the best for businesses larger than 3 (which seems to happen often with ferrets 😂) The Beast, lol.

The vertical works ok for tiny Marshals sprites but it is horrible for the larger gibbs and hobs and even larger sprites. The space with ramps and levels is just too tight. At the moment all my hobs are in homemade cages. I don't like those because they're too hard to clean. This year I will be putting a hob in a FN cage in the fall. I will see how I like it. They're a 182 combination, so the shelves should be ok, the ramps....well we'll just have to see. ciao

I took the ramps out and my 3 hobs just climb or jump up and down from the shelves and upper level
