these little guys are always in my backyard their mom waits for them on the other side of our chain link fence. they come to visit us every day. unfortunately, every time i go into the backyard they run to their mom. Sonny wants me to get him one "as a pet" --i don't trust him. i'm sure he'll bite and kill the little ducky.

They have very odd personalities too. They really remind me a lot of dogs... they beg for food and wag their tails. They also sleep IN the trees. The first time I saw them when I moved to Florida from Mass. I thought they had tumors growing on their faces...

I have never seen a duck with colors like that... muscovy ducks. we also have the florida mottled duck, cormorants, coots, and these weird little diving birds, they are small and they dive/swim underneath the water. i don't think they are ducks. they are afraid of people though. btw, I have seen mallards here in Miami!

Oh how cute! We have a family of Canada geese on our pond, and our dogs aren't impressed. They bark and the geese honk, but nobody wants to do more than talk... which is good, seeing as the geese are bigger.
I wish we could get loons on the pond but it's too small for them to land and take off! I wouldn't want to live anywhere I couldn't hear loons on summer nights.
