Hahahaha, it's a remote litter box attached to the side of the cage. An 18 gallon tub. I hate the shelves. I actually took them out and put up a bunch of hammocks that I made. They enjoyed them but I took them out for litter box bootcamp. I'll have to take a picture and post it up. I also planning to make feeding dens with the same concept as the remote litter box with the tube connection. Man I wish I had heard that before I bought that kaytee cage. X.x

So the FN will be an even smaller footprint than your kaytee + remote litter box... You could always sell the Kaytee on CL....

My husband wouldn't let me get a bigger one. Mine wouldn't let me switch them to raw either. Then he wouldn't let me switch them to whole prey. THEN the cats didn't need raw. Then he wouldn't let me switch the ferrets to whole prey He DID agree however to the FN when I showed him how many times I found the superpet and kaytee cages referred to as "death traps". They can get stuck in the bars and suffocate:

They can get stuck in the bars and suffocate: (headwall) Husbands. I was only able to convince mine to let me switch them to raw because I don't work and it will be cheaper in the long run. He still tells me that ferrets can 'eat kibble and be fine and healthy' and 'they wouldn't sell kibbles that aren't good for them'. Those are literally quotes from yesterday. I'd actually thought about preparing meals for any future dog or cat years and years ago. I always end up getting hair up my nose and it's almost always off of a fine haired animal, and I know that even cat and dog kibbles aren't actually built for them. That's part of the reason they shed so bad. My dad and step mom have a Siamese cat and he sheds soooooo bad all of the time, and has gingivitis. Poor cat. I know they don't have time to clean his fur out/his teeth (he would actually follow me downstairs so I could coconut oil brush his teeth), and he was originally meant to be a breeder tom for outside, but he didn't do well outside. Their outside cats get dog food and they wonder why they don't last very long/why they are so small and get sick so easy. With the ferrets, if I'm going to pay $160 for each, I'm going to give them the best diet I can to help prevent sickness and prolong life. Just sayin. Not to mention I shouldn't be spending over half an hour cleaning their cage because they decided to tunnel under the litter box then not go in it (when I had the litter box in the cage) like three times a day. That was my pushing factor with the remote litter box. I want to enjoy my boys, not be frustrated over something I can fix. He actually admitted the remote litter box was a good idea and that he was glad I pushed him for it. It's made him more eager to want to put the feeding dens together. He tried to tell me the other day that Croc was probably just going to constantly have accidents in the cage and that's just how he was, and I got pretty mad at him. I told him that it's not something that is natural for him to do and I was just trying to help him, that I needed to try to change something to help him out. I wanted to get another litter box and he didn't want to, so I took the small litter box out of the remote one and things have been good ever since. Like he doesn't like that I have to pick Croc up when he's running around and put him in the litter box for him to go. He thinks I'm spoiling him. He wanted me to spank him like a cat for a while there. It's been a battle, but yesterday I think he let in a bit because I was just so proud of how the boys did at the vet and he popped off with, "That's because you've been so good with training them." ..... I just realized I went onto total rant mode. And I almost forgot to mention how terrifying that video is. I read one of the posts on here of someone losing their beloved furbaby because they got stuck in some cage bars.

My husband reads these posts and said, 'Their husbands have a say...' I had to remind him who's in charge here, me! Lol He knows nothing about pets (never had any until we met) so he leaves all the decisions about diet, playpen, cages up to me.

Ferretfanatic, mine doesn't know much about pets either. He grew up with cats that would pee in his room, he had a hamster that he never cleaned the cage, but that's about it. His idea of having a dog only includes petting it and loving on it, no actual training. I grew up on a beef cattle ranch and I've had many cats, dogs, birds, a pig, snakes, an iguana, and fish. I'm about the only person my dad will let help train his working border collies. When first got Gator, my husband kept telling me that he didn't need four hours out of the cage a day, that he'd 'be fine'. Then we had to brand and castrate calves father's day weekend and the boys missed their whole morning hour and lunch hour out (we made up for it), and they were not very well behaved while playing. My husband was getting mad and I reminded him that they NEED at least four hours out of the cage and this was the reason why. He understands now, but it takes proving it to him for him to accept what I'm saying with the ferrets. He thought they were going to be like hamsters. I don't like spanking cats and dogs either, cats I'd rather hiss at them when they do something bad (maybe why I've had such luck training them?) and dogs I rarely have an issue with training. I had to tell my husband that he needed to treat them like they are babies, because they are, and they are my babies. Sure I end up doing most of the clean up and such, but I'm slowly training him to help and understand the furboys.

You're nicer than I am. My husband tried once to tell me how to raise the ferrets and I said, "you've never read a book, never did research online, so sthu!'

If I did that my husband would have nothing to do with them. Like I think out of anything about them he's mostly excited to take them out for walks. I think he likes the attention he gets and passing on the info I'm forcing into his brain.

We're a bit different here - he's more paranoid than me, more of being afraid of preparing their meals in case he gets the balance wrong (that's why at first he was a bit reluctant to raw), a little sneeze and "are you sure he is ok?!", or worrying if today they eat less than yesterday, sharing his glass of water with them, allowing them in places I don't (such as the dinner table! Or in the bathroom, letting them have their fun and making a mess while he watches them), letting them spill ice water all over the floor cos they seem so happy about it ) often before we have dinner he asks me if the ferrets ate their dinner yet or if i served it. we have them all free roam, and dealing with their disasters and darn they do many. I think he wants to be the good guy and i'm the bad cop here )

Mine was never around ferrets until he met me. He would yell, 'come here, come here! Is this one ok?!' He didn't know they slept in weird positions. Once he freaked out because he thought the deaf ferret was dead. He didn't know they go into that deep sleep.

This is my first time owning ferrets, but I did a TON of research before we got Gator. We were going to wait until he was about a year to get him a friend, but a week later we got Croc. Ferret math is a wonderful thing!

Aftershock next time he says "kibble is fine for them", go into the medical board-> insulinoma-> screaming seizure. Then tell him THAT is what you are trying to avoid. h*ll, even my vet tells me the one reason for the epidemic in feline diabetes is kibble.
