So if he wasn't telling you the truth, it's mostly because he's misinformed. They don't really hire on people who actually know a whole lot about animals. A great example would be when I got my hamster; she is a dwarf campbells hamster. They have the cage labeled as "DJ" hamsters, which are completely different. Then as the girl who worked there was putting the new ones in, she was scooping them off/dumping them in because one bit her in the past and she was terrified of them. Then she started to spray them all with a lavender spray (in the eyes mind you!) and telling me I should get it to use on my hamster that I was getting. They weren't even freaking out, they were investigating the new cage and dominance fighting over it. But, what can you do, right? It's the joys of pet stores.

I go to the pet store for litter only. Any food or treats they sell are all but guaranteed to be garbage. Though a few stores have started to carry some freeze dried stuff so that's nice. I use salmon oil for a treat in a droppER bottle (typo in first thread lol) - great for training, rewards, hiding meds, nail trims, etc. I also use freeze dried meats, dehydrated meats, and tiny bait-fish (smelt fish).
