Anybody know the nutritional content of a bluejay fledgeling? I went into the backyard and I found an injured fledgeling. It's leg was broken, so I put it in a box in the shade, thought for a while about what to do, and decided it would be best to kill it myself. The options I had were: leave it alone to die, drive it to a wildlife center to be killed because they don't raise songbirds but DO raise raptors and take songbirds as food, or do what I did. So I looked up how to most humanely kill a chicken and now there's a bluejay in the freezer.
The house two doors down has been abandoned for some time and the township just recently decided to take it back I guess, because there've been township trucks in and out chopping down overgrown bushes and trees with chainsaws. I'm super pissed about it, but I guess they're not paid to care. They legally DO have to relocate wildlife in the yard... But I'm not gonna have any benefit by calling and bitching about how they callously dropped a nest belonging to a bird hated by people locally, and then I'd legally have to surrender the bird to them to be killed 5 hours later after being passed around in a box terrified.
