Hey there. Finally got around to getting Stella and Chewys duck duck goose. Also picked up three sample containers made by Radcat. Grass fed beef, pasture raised venison, and pasture raised lamb.
Those three samples are only 1oz containers.
My question is, should I crush some of her kibble in with this? Or soupie it? Also, can I mix in one of these 1oz? Or try them separately to see what she likes ?
I'm going to go out and buy two other kinds (not chicken because I think my Rosie is allergic) and try rotating weekly.
Edit: I Am starting this transition today, and yeah it's new. I see a lot of extremely in depth menus. I plan on keeping her to three meats and eventually finding out what snacks she likes.
Can't wait to see the poop this time

Well, she amazingly started eating the duck duck goose, with a little warm water, and mashing it up. I put a plate of radcat beef 1oz out as well which she didn't touch.
It seems like she only dabbled in the Stella and chewy's but it was definitely picked through.
Any suggestions ? Mix beef with freeze dried? I plan on getting turkey as well as quail to mix in.

Hi there! Yes you can mix slivers of meat into the Stella and Chewys and transition with that.

She is semi refusing everything. I dabbed some in her mouth and she seemed to like it and then continues to eat off my finger. But if she thinks I'm feeding her 2.5 oz twice a day off my finger she's insane. =P even though I probably would lol.
Right now I have the Stella duck mixed with some radcat lamb. Probably 3.0oz. Hasn't touched it.
Can I mix a small amount of her kibble in with this soupie to make her smell the food she's used too?

Does she like salmon oil or anything? You can drizzle a bit of oil on top of the food to entice her to eat it. As a last resort you can crush some of the kibble and sprinkle it on top to entice her.

I've honestly never tried salmon oil. Wegmans? And why salmon oil. Is it irresistible?
I'm concerned she isn't eating enough now or I'm starving her.

Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/21032/stella-chewys-switch#ixzz4AbPTxiGWAnother thing you can try--- have a spoon of food ready, and after she has licked off your finger some, then hold up the spoonful--- let her eat several licks off spoon---then put the spoon down on the saucer. Done this before. Let her think she is still being babied:)))---might work. Of my 4, only one resisted salmon oil. I had to offer it to her a couple of times, and then she decided it was good.

Looks like I'm heading to pick up salmon oil and two more Stella and Chewy's today.
I'm extremely concerned with her not eating the last two days with this switch.

Finally took her kibble. Warm water mashed it to the same consistency as the mashed Stella's duck, and mixed a little of the duck in with the kibble. Ate about half a plate. Just the fact that she ate made me feel a little better. But the fact that it's kibble bothers me still. I wish she just ate the food!
Going to continue to mash up kibble and progressively mix in 3 kinds of FDR

When transitioning to any raw food it starts off with finger feeding from the lap. That is how she knows she can "trust" the food will not poison her. From there it goes to spoon feeding on the lap, then slowly lowering spoon to plate and moving aside so she learns to lick up directly from the plate. From there to eating from the plate on your lap, then on the floor or wherever her main eating area will be.

Am I raising a ferret or a child?! Too funny.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated. She seems to enjoy the mashed kibble with some of the duck in it. I'm hoping since she is already ok licking it off the plate in her cage, that she will continue to transition

On a more serious note, I have a plate of the mashed Stella's and a plate of the mashed kibble with a hint of Stella's in it.
She is semi refusing both. I'm worried she isn't eating enough and is starving.
Is she ok just eating a little bit here and there ? Sometimes I take it out and stir it around and pretend like it's new food. She will lick a few times then gets bored

while I would not recommend this all the time because it will not clean the teeth, I have made a little gravy out of a few cubes of this and put it on a mouse(which i skinned and took out intestines and cut up:))) and was rewarded with a ferret who will eat a cut up mouse. This is frozen raw at Petco. Rabbit not chicken.

Well she is taking very well to the soupie duck duck goose. She ate almost an entire plate with a lot of water mixed in. Actually avoided the kibble plate.
Tomorrow I get different varieties of Stella's.
