LoL you had me scratching my head for a while lol the good old english patterns work for me lol Albino polecat silver/silver mitt sandy dew and any other colour ( mutts who dont really fit in any of the classes lol but pretty ferrets all the less lol) believe me vicki Ann I have been presented with some funny names over the years all over the world lol in poland it was the polish golden ( a simple polecat with yellow undercoat ) and in sweden the dalmatian ( a mutt ferret with odd spots ) lol it would be simpler if things went back to the old days but then again there would be less classes and everyone wouldn't end up with a ribbon lol take care bye for now Bev

How adorable! They're like fuzzy little weasel-caterpillars! I imagine you're going to have your hands full once they start to run around.

Now 7 weeks and 3 days old ... and full of Mischief. Lilac out of Mischief's litter has joined them as she is a very similar size and just can't hold her own in with her siblings who are up to 3 times her size! Sandy mitt jill Sable hob The other sandy jill Sable jill Mum Fern sporting a fatty tum and having some salmon oil for a nail clip Aunty Dolly looking the fattest she has ever been - up to nearly 280g!! It's a heck of job now. I need about an hour or more to put tea out, because none of the kits will accept the door opening without marching out ... and to get them back I have to put about 4 in one hand put them in a hammock and then quickly get another handful and put them in the hammock before the others jump out and leg it to the door ... and then quickly get myself out of the pen and close the door. Sometimes it takes a few attempts ... and of course this is a fab game for the babies and they get better at it every day (giggle)

So why do you think Lilac is so much smaller than her siblings? Does this happen often? It's great that she can join the younger ones I'm laughing imagining you trying to herd so many baby ferrets! Worse than cats.

Worse than cats. Lilac and Lily are both the same size out of Mischief's litter, but Lily is a little monster and I wouldn't trust her with these babies yet as she rags everyone around by their scruff whereas Lilac is a much quieter temperament, Blue and Pipkin are similar sized hobs so they are proportionally bigger than Lily and Lilac but only around 290g. Then Sapphire is an intermediate size, Gem, Velveteen and Mouse are all a fair bit bigger than the others but not standard size. It seems very common in these litters out of small ferrets to have a range of sizes, the genetics behind them are complex I assume as there is not a simple inheritance pattern. Mischief even had a standard size hob in her first litter!
