sorry! this week is flying by, i didn't realize it had been so long since i updated.
nothing too much to comment on. frankie and bandit are doing fine with their freeze dried. i'm going to see what they'll do with some chunks tomorrow, bandit especially so i can get sammy and jaydon moved in with him. frankie has been seriously slacking on the litter box so i want to move him into the smaller cage to give his skills a tune-up.
jayjay is doing really well with his baby food. he loves it slightly warmed up. i meant to put some meat slivers in it today to see if he'd take it on his own but my thaw timing was off so it'll be ready for tomorrow.
i feel bad for my dog. she begs and begs and begs for the raw. i give her a few pieces of freeze dried here and there but i just don't think i can afford putting her on raw too... although with the prices i pay for her blue buffalo already, i'll have to take the time to add it up and compare. dog nutrition is a whole other ballgame though.

Slipping in some slivers sounds good. You can also make jayjays baby food with some raw soup in (to help get used to the flavor). I find that long skinny slivers work best.
I'd look into a co-op in your area for your dog. They usually have meat for cheap.

the slivers didn't go over so well with jayjay lol.
BUTTTTTT i did run out of freeze dried the other day, so decided to go get the stella and chewys lamb patties instead. EVERYONE loves them. so i guess jayjay just hates beef? thats fine by me, he gobbles this stuff up.

Stella and Chewy FD are a HUGE hit here. My kids LOVE the stuff - it's like crack. ;D Beef is a tricky flavor - you could try mixing a bit of beef in with the freeze dried mix and see how they take it like that. Did anyone else enjoy the slivers? I think it's time to start stuffin & scruffing the slivers. Here's what I'd recommend: 1) make a nice soup with yummy stuff (FD, etc). Something they really like. 2) Have a plate/bowl of small thin slivers of chicken (or whatever meat you want really). 3) Grab jayjay (and a towel ) 4) Dip the slivers in the soup/gravy. Hold jayjay scruffed and dangle them ove r his mouth and try to get him to lick the soup off the sliver. Then try to stuff the sliver into his mouth (careful of your fingers). He will probably spit it out, but it'll be good to show him it's not poison. If he eats a couple, it's great. Reward him with soup/oil/tone whatever he likes.

he will, eventually, eat anything i shove in his mouth... the problem is getting him to eat it on his own.
frankie and bandit ate a few chunks... like the size of a thumb nail or so.

Oh okay, that's actually really good. Do they cave after they're hungry enough? I had to hand feed Pixie for a month or so before she ate chunks on her own some take more convincing than others. It seems like once they get used to the texture and chewing they feel better eating it.

i really don't see him eating chunks on his own anytime soon... and you wouldn't either if you saw the face he makes lapping up the baby food we had a semi breakthrough today. i gave the other guys their last bit of beef freeze dried and went to make jayjay his warmed baby food and go figure, when i walked back in he was munchin their food =]

Oh yay! So jayjay ate freeze dried lamb on his own? That is great

yup! the lamb was actually something he tried/liked a long time ago when i got the sample pack from casey's hidden pantry, but i only had that one patty and wasnt willing to dish out another $30 when i had $60+ worth in other types.
him eating the beef was more surprising. it's a different texture than the patties and obviously a different flavor so i'm pleased with him. at least i know now i can go away overnight and he wont starve himself.

Just keep hand feeding slivers to help get him used to the texture and chewing He'll be there soon enough
