OH, I can remember complaining to Bev that Lady Lola looked like a wee watermelon with legs sticking out the sides. She could barely move. I was so embarrassed because it happened almost overnight. I have heard of people complaining that their jills look horrible and skinny but Lola wasn't one of those jills. Her coat gleamed and she rolled from place to place. Once everyone started playing and the kits became hugely active (and I started watching her intake), the weight came off. ciao Yes, Mischief is like a little pudding. I have never had one of my ferrets so fat to be honest My jills usually look well at the end of raising their litters, they often gain a little, but never this much! Poor Mischief, she's not enjoying being fat, she wants to slink away over the barrier to play behind the food bins with Flower ... but she can't jump that far and pull herself up

She's an embarrassment!
At least nobody can say I starve my kits and jills to keep the sizes small on the kits! (giggle)

What she is, is a good mummy, eating all the leftovers so no predators are attracted to the nest and her bubbies

Oh, she is a wee pudge beastie isn't she Love the neck rolls Yah, Lady Lola to the tee lol. I was so embarrassed I never took a pic. What is worrying me is her daughter Lady Merida. She's a wee pudge beast to begin with and loves her food. Her mother isn't half as bad as she is. She reminds me of her father, who would turn into a bowling ball if I let him. ciao

LoL what do you mean if you let him lol Tico don't ask he takes ask your dog and your cat lol nothing to be ashamed about having a fat jill when feeding kits it shows mom is getting her share along with her babies and will bounce back fine the next year I have a feeling Merida will move into mother mode once she does have kits and you will see her dropping weight then you will worry because she looses her pudgy belly lol take care bye for now Bev

I just hope Mischief gets no bigger now, I'm trying to be tactical about feeding the kits and playtime but there are those hours in the day when I'm at work when there is food in for the kits and Mischief can (and does) just help herself!

Gorgeous! Mischief is perfectly name. I swear my next will be named "lives a long life and gives me so much joy and love" since they do seem to fit their names so well. My Mika is just a chubby bundle of love but she is tiny in length and has the most beautiful coat.

My Mika is just a chubby bundle of love but she is tiny in length and has the most beautiful coat. That is so true! Mischief is a perfect little mischievous character - now she is too fat to jump and properly climb, I am her personal elevator and she puts her paws up on my forearm and her back feet on my hand and I have to carry her to each place she might want to go. She doesn't get off me until I've taken her to the place she wants to get to. She has me well trained

Aren't they smart? Mika also uses me as her special elevator but the moment I sit on the floor then she decides it's a perfect time for snuggling on my knees. My knees are not as young as they use to be and I sit there until my legs fall to sleep. I do try to make her use her muscles as often as possible and encourage her to climb into the fun tub as often as possible. I think the smarter ones can often be the lazier one since they have us so well trained as you put it.

Had to video this, it was absolutely hilarious - sable hob kit getting very excited about chasing the ball round. It makes my day spending time with the babies. I just adore them so much. www.facebook.com/vicki.ann.moxon/videos/10154351827459276/Nipping is stepping up a notch too - I remember this feeling of despair about nip-training with every litter ... and they always come good.
