An excellent name if I do say so myself I love the little dark nose on the big silver jill. You were aiming for silvers mainly, weren't you? Did you get less/more than you expected? Although I guess that should be proportionally, since I know you weren't expecting 22 kits!!! They are all so adorable, thanks for the pics and please keep them coming!

Well, this breeding was to check the line rather than create any specific colour. I love them all. I didn't expect the albino or mitts but all kits are healthy and happy and that's the main thing. I like dark coloured ferrets and the eventual aim is to have dark noses and coats, but patience is the key .... to avoid inbreeding, all sorts of colours have ended up in the litters. Summer's litter is the ideal for me

Okay I now intend on moving to Wales to be close to you. You're living my dream. Just one small problem since my husband doesn't intend on moving to Wales so I can be your (just kidding) ferret stalker and closest neighbor. Congratulations on such beautiful babies and a happy healthy Mommy of such a beautiful business of new babies.

I have quite a lot of reservations but I am not ready to decide who I can definitely part with yet (I was toying with the idea of keeping them all ... ) Here's a little video of the babies exhausted after a big play out with me ... Mum Mischief has to go round and check in with them all and make sure they're ready for bed! A good demonstration of how much kits still need their Mum at 7 weeks of age. Only downside is that Mischief is getting horribly fat on the good food ... so I might have to push forward her separation date to 8 weeks, which I don't like but think is necessary for her health. www.facebook.com/vicki.ann.moxon/videos/10154346779499276/

An adorable video and it does show just how much the mom interacts and cares for her little ones. I found that my wee mites really needed their mom at this age and yes, Lady Lola got huge cleaning up after the kits. Once I realized what she was doing I was able to cut the amount of food she was eating by better keeping track of what the kits were actually eating and adjusting and offering Lola some out time while the kits were eating (especially their richer foods and mush). She was less inclined to gorge on whole meats and prey. ciao

I am switching over to more whole prey as these littles ones will eat mice and chickens like it's going out of fashion BUT Mischief isn't over-keen on whole prey as she was kibble-fed as a youngster before she was with me. Fingers crossed it makes some difference, she is so overweight right now I am quite glad I'm not the only one who has to watch their jills' weight when they're raising litters, most people are concerned their jills are too thin!

OH, I can remember complaining to Bev that Lady Lola looked like a wee watermelon with legs sticking out the sides. She could barely move. I was so embarrassed because it happened almost overnight. I have heard of people complaining that their jills look horrible and skinny but Lola wasn't one of those jills. Her coat gleamed and she rolled from place to place. Once everyone started playing and the kits became hugely active (and I started watching her intake), the weight came off. ciao
