I have never heard of a ferret reacting to mouse before. That is strange. I wonder if perhaps the mouse was bad, or something else got to her? I would definitely give it some time for her to recover and try it again in a while. If she reacts the same way then we might suspect an issue.

The mouse didn't smell bad besides you know a dead smell lol I am not sure what happened but she ate it and I suspect a little time after there was mouse throw up everywhere and her poop was that red ish color. I guess I know how to pick em because Shelby my other ferret is extremely chicken sensitive or allergic.

Yeah maybe the hair irritated her throat like you thought? OR she may have eaten it too fast causing her to vomit - that's definitely not uncommon. and anything that makes them vomit can upset them a bit as they really aren't designed to vomit easily. I guess we will see when she tries one again later on! I sure hope it's not a mouse sensitivity, but with these guys you just NEVER KNOW!!

Next mouse I give her I might skin just to take one of the variables out of the equation and go from there.

You could also try hand feeding pieces of it to force her to eat it more slowly. Then if she STILL reacts you really know the protein could be the culprit.

You are very welcome! Let us know how it goes when you try it again. I'm crossing my fingers.
