Hey guys! This is my first Thread on the forum, and im still getting the hang of things so forgive if im in the wrong area for this I got my little guy last week and he came with a retched bag of low quality kibble. Im begining his switch to whole/raw and with a little enthusiasm on my part he's tolerating it. Hes eaten a few pinkie mice so far (frozen, then thawed) and some raw chicken sliced. But he likes to try to take it away and hide it rather than eat it, but were working on that! He's had a mixure of seedy, and loose poops. Thats normal with a diet change like this, right? I hope im not moving too fast for the little guy to handle...

Welcome to the HFF How old is your little one and what is his name? Is this your first ferret? I'm so happy that you're planning on starting him off right. This thread is in the right place and the Mentors will oversee your posts and help with any questions you have. I'm going to link a thread for you to help with some of the basics of a natural diet. Once you read over it then we can answer any questions and help you as you move him along. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/17480/intro-raw-newbies-readSeedy and loose poops will occur during a diet switch. Seedy poops are undigested fats and loose poops are the result of a diet change and can also mean he needs a little more bone in his diet. Right now you are just beginning and the idea is to get him on a balanced diet. That's where we can help. We have an all volunteer mentoring program that helps and once you have 15 posts then you can sign up for it. In the meantime take a look at some of the mentoring threads and see how the process works. we just ask that you don't post to the working threads. You're on the right track but one thing to remember is that a pinkie is a baby animal and they are treats not a full meal. You want the nutrients from a grown animal. If your little guy is very young than he is a tummy with teeth and will eat whatever you give him and eat quite alot for the next few months. The forum is a lovely place with kind and gentle ferrents. We love to share stories and pictures, pretty please and if you need any help navigating the forum please ask. Have fun with the little guy and see you around the HFF (dance)

He is three months old, and his name is Rambo, i call him bobo though cause he sure is a goofy little thing. He is my personal first, but i have had close family memebers that have owned them who were like my own without all the responsiblity haha. Im just starting him off with pinkines for now cause they are small and i was hoping the bite size would be more tenmpting. I hope to have him on adults soon, and im going to make him the liver/heart/chicken/egg shell soup tonight. Thankyou for the links, the advice and the warm welcome!

You can make a little feeding den for him--- a rubber tub turned upside down. I put a pillow case or baby blanket underneath . If you have a lid for tub just cut a hole in the side. I have done this; however, mine are starting to stash under their cage. I let them do this and periodically clean it up.
