I have just started the switch from one kibble to another because my little Rosie has had seedy fatty poop from the chicken in totally ferret.
I'm going to post again after I switch her totally to Orijen but I am just starting the transition today.
Was wondering if anyone else feeds their little furry friends straight kibble like I do? And if so, how is or has it been going? Normal poop? Normal behavior?

I have to feed kibble. Most here feed raw and it truly is best but there are a few kibble feeders. You will see a huge difference in a matter of weeks switching from totally ferret to Orijin, not as remarkable as if you were switching to raw but still a big difference. Coats will be fuller and softer, their smell will change, more energy. Bowel consistency and amount will change too.
Its great that you are switching but try to keep in mind they should be on at least 3 different kibbles. One reason is recalls or recipe changes. If you have them on 3 you will always have options.

Ok so I'm going to get her on the Orijen for now but I guess I'll have to make the trip for two other kibbles.
What should I mix together as 3 kibbles?
Preferably something with my orijen, also am I just putting this all in a bag eventually and feeding her the mix of 3?

I used to feed mine just Totally Ferret food. This was years ago with my very first set of ferrets. Do not know if the formula has changed. I thought it was best thing in the world, until one of my babies got pancreatic cancer(insulinoma). So it left a very bad taste in my mouth. Not trying to scare you or anything. Then I sought after kibbles with the least amount of carbs. Used Evo (famous at the time for recalls) then Wysong Epigen 90(made a super itchy ferret) then I found the ferret forum and made the switch. No more excessive itching from my Abbey. There is always some one here to help you if you decide to make the switch.

Evo is no longer making the 2 that were mostly used for ferrets.
I use currently Orijin, ori regional red, Wysong ferret epi 90, and my emergency ones are Wellness Core kitten and NV raw boost either the turkey or the rabbit. The ones listed as emergency are for if for some reason I am unable to get either of the orijins or the wysong. In my area only 1 shop carries those three. That said I tend to hoard the foods up so I wont run out.

So I guess what I'm getting at is. I should or should not keep her on one kibble. Should I go get 2 more like the ones listed and mix all 3 up and just see if she takes?

She seems to like the mix 50/50 totally ferret and orijen. She's eating not rejecting which is good. So I guess it's just a matter of getting the totally ferret out of her diet completely.
I will more than likely mix 3 kibbles together I just don't know what the best 3 are.
Any thoughts to a good healthy kibble diet including orijin

I am not familiar with kibbles, but from what I remember, libbyw listed some that are okay. You just need to check them out online and see which you can get without chicken.

Also, libbyw,
Was wondering if your ferret has totally normal healthy poop and behavior? And are they strictly kibble fed? Any issues?

With the exception of weekly raw eggs yes they are totally kibble fed unfortunately.
Yes they are currently healthy , happy and active however, there is a reason the word "currently" in in there. It is just a very apparent fact that leaves very little room for debate that kibble fed ferrets are much more likely to develop insuloma and dental problems. No matter how high quality the kibble it cannot now, or ever be, as good as raw. This is a fact that weighs heavily on my heart and I struggle with. If not for having a very compromised immune system there is no way in holy heck I would be feeding kibbles.
If I know someone is unwilling or unable to feed raw then I will always advocate for the best possible kibble but please don't take that as an endorsement for kibble being the best, it's just if it has to be kibble it needs to be the best you are able.
For some the turn off to raw is the cost but truly if you have a small group of ferrets raw can actually be the cheapest way to go after you get set up especially in the long term.
I'm trying not to ramble I haven't had time for coffee yet this morning so I hope this reply makes sense lol
Anyway keep asking questions and keep learning, Everyone here is always happy to help

Im probably going to go out tomorrow and get her some Stella and chewys stuff. Still not 100% on what 3 meats she will like. But I guess I'll have to figure out a menu. I work nights but usually have time to take her out before and after work including days off
If feeding her raw is the best way to go, she's only about 10months old and I would rather get her on something good than have issues in the long run.
The things I'm going to do for this furry little raccoon. She's like a girlfriend. If she didn't flop around all goofy and get me to the point of hilarity where my stomach hurts, ok I guess I shall feed you like the furry queen you are.

Rosie seems to be a bit more itchy from switching totally ferret kibble to Orijen.
I hope going to the raw that will fix that.
I may head to the store today, for a basic raw diet I think I'll pick up the duck, and two other random things
Now as far as preparing this am I microwaving this stuff or what?
